mikekk2118, this thread is so old. I am sorry you’ve had bad experiences. Amazon has always had my back and have been very prompt at doing so. Every time.

Yeah, but its just as bad with companies like Amazon. Even worse. This company pays no taxes and they openly advertise fake posts and they have fine print everywhere that will rip you off from what they sell, but protect them from having to be responsible for anything at all, or protecting their consumers. I dred online shopping. Used to dread that it takes a month or 2 to actually get what ya ordered after getting the wrong thing twice, now I dread getting it and being stuck with it, by companies like Amazon that dont support the consumer, and knowingly allow frauds and then charge thei consumers. Amazon will NOT even allow someone to post in reviews if they know a product is counterfiet or fake garbage. Only verified users can post its a scam, after being scammed. Great business model from companies making billions while not paying any taxes

The original subject of this post was about fake SSDs. When I first read about them I only saw them on AliExpress and Wish.com. Within a year they started appearing on Amazon, Newegg, and even Walmart.com. A quick check showed none of these fakes are being sold there now. At least Amazon and Newegg eventually responded and got rid of these fakes. I also checked AliExpress and Wish.com. All the fakes SSDs are still being sold. For example, on AliExpress i found the following fake Solid State Drives: 8TB $7.45, 32TB $19.22.

My Amazon account was hacked just so someone could start making fake reviews. Amazon was very cooperative and got my account back. I then deleted the hackers fake reviews. He hacked my account again and got even by deleting all my reviews. I called Amazon again and got my account back again. They even restored the reviews the hacker had deleted. This was my fault not Amazon's. This time I enabled 2FA which solved the problem.

I try to only buy from Amazon if there are free returns for a refund or replacement. I have never had a problem getting a refund from Amazon or any of their third-party sellers. One time I bought 4 microSD cards. When I received it the envelope was open with only 1 microSD card in it. I called Amazon who promptly shipped me 3 microSD cards for free.

I don't understand. Why should you be allowed to post that an item is a scam if you are not a verified buyer of the product? If you didn't actually buy the product how would you know it is fake?

If you're that passionate about it that you feel a need, buy it and send it back so you can review it. Otherwise, not sure why you felt the need to bump this ancient thread just so you could bag Amazon?

My experiences with Amazon have always been good. But I also tend to avoid thre really cheap versions of the things I want to buy.

For example, I want to get a new battery for my ring camera. I will buy the genuine one for $34.99 rather than the 2 pack knockoff version for $24.

That hasn't been my experience with AliExpress. I bought several items from them. Only one ssd drive was bad. That company sent me a free fedex return. Read the company rating before hand. Many, from what I see offer free returns.
People keep bad mouthing China or AliExpress without warrant.

I totally agree. I'll even go as far as to say that I feel all reviews both positive or negative should be from verified buyers.

You have to be kidding. Sure AliExpress sells a lot of good name brand products but they still still a lot of fake garbage. They have made no effort to eliminate the ripoff products they have for sale.

Of course I am not saying Amazon doesn't sell fake or low quality products. It is just that Amazon has done a much better job eliminating the obvious fake products.

IMO, that's because Amazon does listen to users that report fake or defective products. Their inventory and suppliers are to numerous for them to catch everything without users helping them. I can truthfully say that I've never been burned by any of my purchases from Amazon. I can even say the same thing about all of my purchases from eBay.

We need to be very cautious about all reviews of a product. For an example. Back in 2020 I bought a Instant Pot Aura Pro 11-n-1 cooker. When reading some of the reviews I read complaints about it not being a pressure cooker. It was never described as being a pressure cooker. I think the customers didn't take the time to read the description and just assumed it was a 8 quart pressure cooker because of the name Instant Pot. It is a great multicooker though. Sadly Amazon is now listing it as not available.

Seems for 2024 there are new models of External SSD Drives. Now you can get "128TB" drives with 480MB/s speed for just £21 from Ali Express! And they come in a choice of colours too....

All one has to remember is that real large capacity SSDs sell for about $50-100 US per TB. That shows how impossible that listing is.

BTW, the largest real SSD I could find is the ExaDrive 100TB SSD. It sells for a mere $40,000 US.

Look at the name, not at the product. It's always the name that we should trust. It's obvious that the image was photoshopped and not an actual photo.
