Hey @Brink hope you're doing well!

I'm having a problem with my Microsoft Store Apps, and I'm hoping you might be able to help me.

As of this morning, I can't download any apps from the Microsoft Store, and if it tries to, it returns with an error message: 0X80246007, which apparently has to do with missing downloaded or required update files being unavailable. I have done a bunch of trouble shooting and now after the last step I tried, I'm getting an error message when trying to re-install the Microsoft Store, via your instructions above.

I've tried:
- Checking for updates.
- scanning for corrupt files: No integrity violations
- Running the DISM commands: All clear.
- Resetting the Microsoft Store.
-Clearing the cache of the Microsoft Store.
- Reinstalling a fresh install of Windows.

* I don't have an option to run the Windows Apps trouble shooter, it just isn't there when I go into "Other troubleshooters" so that's the only step I haven't taken, but not for a lack of trying.

Nothing has worked.
I don't know what files, apps, etc. aren't available that is preventing the updates from completing.
I don't know what the error code means that I received when I tried to reinstall the Microsoft Store.

I'm at a complete loss, and I can't open simple apps like Note Pad etc, which is so frustrating.
The Microsoft support people were not able to figure it out, and their suggestion was to find work arounds for those apps (which isn't an answer, because there's a reason something is wrong.)
Any guidance you might be able to provide would be incredibly appreciated.
Thank you!

Here is the error message I got when I tried to follow your instructions above.

Hello mate, :alien:

Is this happening on a clean install of Windows 11 without any 3rd party apps or security programs installed?

Is anything else having issues other than the Microsoft Store?

Are you using a VPN or anything else that may cause an issue with your region or network?

@Brink

Hey hey, thanks for getting back to me so fast!

- Yes to question 1.
- The only thing I have downloaded so far is Mozilla, no other third party apps. I tried to delete Mozilla, just in case oddly it was causing an issue, but no go.
- No and yes, the apps within the MS store (such as get help, notepad, and photos etc.) all just show as grey spaces that say ms something or other, but nothing outside of the MS store is having an issue.
- Nope, no VPN, and nothing else I can think of.
- I saw you mentioned try uninstalling xbox so I did that didn't seem to do anything.
- My computer had a bunch of updates initially, but all of them have now been installed successfully and everything is UTD.

Someone mentioned something about firewall apps sometimes being an issue. I only have the ones installed by Windows, but do you think that could be it?

Is there anything you know of to be able to run some kind of command that could tell me what files or downloads aren't available or are having issues? I feel like this is a bad guessing game and it's driving me insane.

If you have any other suggestions, I'm all ears, because I can't even do anything with the registry without my damn note pad 😒.

Thanks Brink!

- Yes to question 1.
Is this clean installation activated?

Is it possible to do a clean (re)install?

How was (what steps) the clean install done?

I was finally able to get the option to run the Windows Update troubleshooter, via run, and now I'm even more confused because it thinks there is no problem.

It's crazy having these issues with a clean install, but you could try resetting Windows Update using the method below to see if it may help.

@Brink

Hey, thank you for sharing this, I will take a peek!

Last night I did find a forum that shared how to see the various error IDs that were associated with the issues with deployment, and one of the things I'm incredibly confused about is in the first screenshot it says it can't find the DesktopAppInstaller, however in the second screenshot, it clearly shows the full package for the DesktopAppInstaller, as well as the MS Store.

It's clear to me, for whatever reason, something went completely sideways when the re-install happened, which corrupted the MS Store, and all of those packages, even though any scans I ran came back clear.

My thought is, I need to completely remove the MS Store and those associated packages entirely, and then re-install them, however, the MS Store doesn't show in my Apps, or in Revouninstaller.
- Do you know a command to completely force remove the MS Store and all of it's associated packages? And then a command to re-install each of them?

Thank you so much for your help Brink, I'm sorry to keep asking you for help, but it seems you're the only one who can sometimes find a resolution to things 😅.

@ALC,

Just to check, did you use an unmodified official W11 ISO/USB when you clean installed?

Does running ms-windows-store: in Run (Win+R) open the Microsoft Store app for you?

You can test the options below to reinstall the Microsoft Store app to see if one will restore it.
