Now I am thinking about returning my 4070 super and getting the 5070 ti for the 16GB vram and the much faster performance.....

I can return it until jan 14th....


It would only be $150 more for the new gen card. Problem is, I bet it's going to be hard to get my hands on one so I feel like due to lack of availability, it could screw me and I might lose a chance at getting a gpu at all....

I am happy with my current card, but indiana jones (great game btw) ate vram like candy so I am thinking about making the switch to a 16GB vram.

Whatcha guys think?

the If I can secure one is the big problem here....because If I cannot I am worried I will have no gpu at all and be screwed. It doesn't come out until February. I would need to return the card soon. I suspect the 40 series will start selling out quickly.

I just remember the last time cards came out everything sold out and it was a terrible time.

How long are you willing to be without a graphics card? (Do you have an older one on hand?) The 5070 ti is supposed to become available "in February". They don't say whether it'd be the 1st or the 28th. There is also the question of when you might be able to actually get one, without buying from a scalper.

But it's only money. :(

I'm fine waiting through February to get the new card haha. But yeah its just me worried about not being able to secure one, then waiting for stock. And not being able to go back to the 40s cause they sold out. I don't have any older gpu to use. Last time this happened the old cards sold out as well.

Maybe I will just stick with what I have and in 5 years or so just do a whole rebuild with am6 or am5 or whatever and whatever new gpu is out then. Avoid the crazyness lol

I'm thinking of also getting the 5070 Ti as I sold my RTX 3090 18 Months ago and replaced it with a GT730 2GB just so I could use my computer.
I was going to buy either the 4070 Ti super or the 4080 Super but it never happened
Therefore I'm happy to wait as I haven't played any games for a long time lol.

I still have a GTX980 that's installed in my media pc. I used to play games on the pc but changed over to playstation (currently PS5).

I've had the card for nearly 10 years. I do have a second one packed away, both were installed into a system that is now dead.

I haven't seen the need for a new card as mine just works for what I need.

This machine is used as a media pc for watching tv shows and movies.

Kodi is installed and used for media.

This windows install is completely stock, not running any start menu or any other type of program to modify windows explorer or start menus. Only uninstalled pre installed apps.
These new cards have very poor native performance and require "tricks" to make them seem impressive. Consumers should not accept this BS

"Very poor native performance"? Probably not.

nVidia's claims that a 5070 will be competitive with a 4090 appear to be weasel-worded, though. Some of its gross specs seem slightly better than a 4070. The memory bandwidth should be significantly superior. (GDDR7.)

Read the article posted below you message, it's all smoke and mirrors, these cards do not have raw horsepower, so it must fake frames in software.

that is what dlss is. Yes they are getting higher fps by essentially trickery.

They are technically more powerful cards in raw power, but not enough as expected for a complete new gen.

The RTX 5090 may be significantly more powerful than the 4090. For a mere $2k (MSRP).
