I don't have this entry in the registry

Windows 11 Home Edition Version 22H2 (OS Build 22621.3296)
I don't have an entry called TaskbarSd here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced.
Is this normal in Windows 11 Home Edition? I wanted to try a trick to fix a problem I have with the taskbar, as apparently changing a value in it can fix the problem, but I don't have it at all.
Just wondering if it depends on Windows 11 editions or if my registry is corrupt and that's why I have a problem with the taskbar in the first place.
Thanks.

You may have to create that entry. Well, at least some of it towards the end.
Are you following a set of directions from somewhere?

They might give instructions for doing just that.

That Key "Advanced" should have about 40 entries in it.
I'm on Win 11 Home, and I have that Key.

That may or may not work.
Creating it is one thing. Having the 40 or so entries is another thing entirely.

Another option, would be just doing an In-Place Upgrade.
This will repair Windows, but leave your programs and files... intact.

Here is the short version of the In-place upgrade tutorial...

DISABLE non-Microsoft:
a) antivirus software
b) firewall software
c) drive encryption software

Make a full OS backup with a program like Macrium Reflect (free)
Macrium Software | Macrium Reflect Free

Go here and get the Windows 11 ISO (use the 3rd option), and save the ISO to your desktop.
Download Windows 11
The ISO must be downloaded in the same language as you are using in Windows, to be able to keep your Programs and Files.

000000 Win 11 ISO.png

Right click the ISO image and choose: MOUNT
Open File Explorer and you will see a new drive letter. It will "look" like a DVD optical drive.
Double click the new drive letter to open it.
Find setup.exe and double click it to start the in-place upgrade.

Choose the Keep personal files and apps option.

After it's all done... to UNmount the ISO image, right click the new drive letter and choose: EJECT.

The ONLY thing you will lose is some of your personalizations. Your programs and data will be intact.

I did the in-place upgrade yesterday and I still have the problem (I didn't have it before the repair I mentioned in the other thread). It is OK in safe mode and in another new account, just not in my account. The problem with a new user account is that I installed many old programs for my account only. New programs usually don't ask any more? So I would have to reinstall many of them, and it is a lot of work for a minor problem... I just can't pin programs to the taskbar any more, and I have really tried every solution. The only one that worked was a new account, but I might wait a bit because I would have to reinstall too many programs...

Well... there are some 3rd party [programs that will help with the Taskbar, but most have some side effects.
When I want to pin a program to the Taskbar... I just go to the program's desktop icon, (or create one), and right click it and choose: Pin to Taskbar.

I don't think there's much you can do about programs installed ONLY to your account, other than rei9nstalling them.

It might be easier, to just do a clean install of Windows 11... and then start to use backup software, like Macrium Reflect or AOMEI Backupper.

I think trying to "work around" your existing issues, is going to turn out to be more hassle than it's worth, in the long run.
In other words... it'll be worse than just doing a clean install.

Unfortunately I tried to right-click on desktop shortcuts too, and I tried from the proper location too - but it just won't do it.
If I try to drag them to the taskbar there is a stop sign when I reach the taskbar...
And if I restart in normal mode after pinning some programs to the taskbar in Safe Mode, the icons I added are white and if I click on them I get an error message "Windows can't find the item", and under it it says that the item might have been moved, renamed or deleted...

I know it's a pain.... but if it was me... I'd consider a clean install or factory restore.

I might try in the future, but right now I have just reinstalled all my programs after a repair that went well apart from the taskbar and just don't really have the time... It takes MANY hours to reinstall programs. :(

I know it does... believe me.
But you WILL keep having weird issues, if you don't get Windows 11... fixed.

If I knew a fast answer, I'd post it. :(

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?
It takes MANY hours
@Ghot is right. You can spend even more hours chasing your tail trying to fix problems while trying to use a system that's not working well. May I suggest that once you get things clean and working that you consider some sort of backup solution so you can prevent ever having to clean install again....or at least until Windows 12 is released to break things again.

I do have Acronis TrueImage and I have backups, but they don't work properly to reinstate an image because Acronis does not restart properly on this system and cannot retrieve an image from within the same OS (I have read about it and I should just upgrade, as my version is 9 years old). I have also just installed AOMEI Backupper the other day but haven't created a backup yet because I hoped to fix this issue first.
