iDrive system restore?

I downloaded LibreOffice this afternoon. But I was having problems with the help file, so used Revo Uninstaller to remove it. Then I reinstalled LibreOffice. But somehow my system retained the Help file settings. So something didn't get erased. I used their group chat to ask for help. But all I got was sarcastic and rude comments. So, I'm very happy to get rid of LibreOffice entirely.

I used Revo to uninstall LibreOffice again. But now I wonder if it got everything as it didn't seem to last time. Then I thought doing a system restore using iDrive would do the trick. (I do incremental backups every week.) But I've never restored an entire system before. So, I thought I'd check with people here before going any further.

Try looking for leftovers in your Program Data (You need to unhide your files first).
Next, go to - C:\Users\Appdata\Roaming\
You may find a folder or some files left behind by LibreOffice.

Now the registry.
Even with Revo Uninstaller used, you may still find dead configuration entries in the Registry that LibreOffice has left behind.

Type 'regedit' in the Run box.
Then select - Edit -> Find -> LibreOffice
Delete the entries found.
Keep pressing 'F3' (Find Next) until the registry editor has finished searching through the registry.

Still you may be able find more entries to delete here:

Computer\HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1760888737-3017317518-1449836276-1001_Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\MuiCache

This is where some redundant entries hide.

It should if you had backed up your system drive before installing LibreOffice.

Thanks for the directions. I found a few references to LibreOffice in the Program Data folder. But I was really surprised to find 5 or 6 instances in the registry. No wonder I still found references to LibreOffice even after I uninstalled it. Wow. I found the Computer\HKEY_USERS... folder in RegEdit, but didn't see anything there regarding LibreOffice.

I've thought about it and I'm not about to let some jerks dictate what programs I used or don't use. That's for me to decide. That aside, I'm not sure if I want to use LibreOffice since, it seems, like I would have to constantly be thinking about choosing a Windows extension each time I save a document.

I'm not sure what I'd use instead of LibreOffice. I'm not thrilled about buying a subscription to Microsoft Word I'd love to buy a copy of it. But the only version you can buy without a subscription is Word 2021. And it looks like it would cost $199 Australia.

Did you also use the Advanced option in Revo to uninstall leftover files/folders/regsitry entries? The initial uninstall is simply a perfunctory window dressing option

AFAIK the Libre help pack is a separate download and install. Did you look to see if that had to be uninstalled separately?
EDIT Just checked, Libre helppack is listed as a separate entry/program in Revo

I'm not entirely sure that idrive does a full system restore - although maybe there are newer options now. All my plan does is redownload all the files it has backed up (as in documents, pictures etc files, not windows files).

Yeah, I knew the Help file was a separate download. I uninstalled that as well. I'm not sure why I downloaded it in the first place, to be frank. I just google my questions. That's quick and easy.

Yeh, I've found a goodly worded search engine much more reliable than inbuilt software help, mainly because it extends, outside the software's offering, to other users in other forums. Personal hands-on experience and solutions are much more reliable than a help file written by the program designer.

The advanced option is a button in the Revo program window. After the (basic) uninstall is finished
- DO NOT reboot even if prompted
- select the Advanced button
- run the feature
- delete EVERYTHING, don't be selective, don't be choosey, otherwise the uninstallation is not "clean"
- do the Advanced both for files and folders, and registry entries (may involve 2 processes but still in the same "session" as the initial uninstall)
- then, and only then, do the reboot (recommended whether prompted earlier or not. Personal preference)

If you missed the Advanced part initially, it's often better to re-install the program, then (re-)run the complete Revo process

I'm still curious to know about incremental backups with idrive - so system images? My idrive only backs up user files.

Just use a backup software to back up to idrive.

Try this one. There could be a couple of orphaned entries of LibreOffice residing there.
