Operating system:
I am unable to 're-enable' Core Isolation due to an incompatible driver identified as...
wdsm64_prewin8.sys
Western Digital Technologies
Import date: 11/6/2021
Driver date: 11/29/2017
Driver version: 1.2.0.0
Published name: oem34.inf
1. I am not aware of nor do I know how to go about determining what device(s) uses that particular driver. It is only my ‘best guess’ that the only device that it is associated with this driver is a '2 TB USB 3.0 external storage hard drive - Western Digital model WD Elements' (purchased June2020) that I plug in to my computer for 'manually' backing up files. Namely I no longer use any of the software that came with WD Elements.
2. And I don't really know what this driver does exactly. If I can continue manually backing up my files to this external hard drive without this driver as a solution to re-enable Core Isolation, that'd fine by me.
Is there an easy way to determine above 1. and 2.?
I am thinking that deleting the driver would be the solution. But I'm not computer savvy enough to confidently make that decision. I surely don't want to delete (or attempt to delete) the driver without knowing for certain that it won't create other problems by doing so.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
