Incomplete WSL installation - help needed

I installed WSL2 on my new Win11 Pro laptop and installed Ubuntu distribution, using the wsl --install command in PowerShell. The Ubuntu Linux appears to work fine. But when I did wsl --update in PowerShell, it failed at 90% and showed an error:

Then I installed Docker Desktop and the Docker Engine stopped at launch with the following error message:

Can someone please suggest how I can fix the problem?

You can reset Ubuntu from settings, just find Ubuntu in the start menu, right-click to go to App settings, then press the reset button or repair it.

Thanks. I have reset Ubuntu a couple times already. Still the same problem....

Yes a few times already as well. This new laptop is really strange. I have set up WSL at least on 5 other Windows computers in the last 2 years. This is the only one having the problem.

No, WSL and Docker are the only problems I have. I am able to install Tensorflow and conda/miniconda and train AI models on the 4090 mobile GPU.

Well, I followed the instructions to do in-place upgrade. It went well. Then I did "wsl --update" on Command Prompt with administrator run. It passed the update successfully too! However, when I ran the WSL/Ubuntu, I received the following error messages:

Failed to attach disk 'C:\Users\dlin1\AppData\Local\Packages\CanonicalGroupLimited.Ubuntu_79rhkp1fndgsc\LocalState\ext4.vhdx' to WSL2: The system cannot find the file specified.
Error code: Wsl/Service/CreateInstance/MountVhd/HCS/ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND

Thanks again. How do I reinstall Ubuntu? It looks like that the ext4.vhdx file is missing.
