Intel Wi-Fi AX200

I use smart connect now for my RT-AX58U. Seems to be choosing band auto and it's now one ssid for both 2,4 and 5 GHz.

Using Smart Connect certainly would make wifi life much easier BUT......only if it works as advertised. I might try that here and see how it works. In my case I have a 2 floor house so it's not spread out and vertical instead. That of course make bandwidth easier to manage. My main router is on one side of the downstairs while the upstairs AP is on the opposite side so I have a good 5G spectrum around my home. But my home is also wired with ethernet all over the place so I use a direct connection if convenient.

Smart Connect is the first thing that they tell you to turn off to improve your WiFi.

They advertise to turn it off to improve your WiFi so, I did that, and my WiFi improved after. So, IME it does work as advertised.

I have a AX210 and a Asus Wifi 6E router. I was experiencing similar on my 802.11AC and AX devices...it would randomly shift to 2.4 GHz...instead of 5 and 6GHz. To address, without having to break up into (3) separate SSIDs, I use the MAC filter in the router to reject the devices on the 2.4GHz band...seems to work. Setting the "preferred band" in the device driver advanced settings didn't work too well.

My Xfinity download speed is 1.2 Gbps and I use their rental gateway which is a combined DOCSIS 3.1 internet and telephone modem and router.
