I know I should have posted this in the IrfanView forums in the first row, but I've registered there, yet I cannot have my account activated... Hence my post here.

So I was using IrfanView 4.62 (x64) for months now, and its earlier versions before, with my network drives without any issues. Yesterday I updated to v. 4.65 and I cannot save any operation made on files in the original folder (the error message is "Can't open file for writing").

I've rolled back to IrfanView 4.62 and everything's back to normal. I checked IV settings and the release notes to see if there might have been any changes that would impact network drives, but found nothing.

Can anyone advise me on what to check?

Acts as if the image is write protected? Try adding a 1 to the file name and see if the new (unprotected) image will save. Might also try renaming the original, then try same process that gives original error

Thanks, but it's not this one. The file won't save with any name into any network locations (starting with "\\").

I've mapped this path as a letter in WIndows, and then the file saves without any issues.

When I change the \\NAS1\ into its local address I'm getting this:

It seems to me the new IV cuts the first couple of chars in the save path - here only a part of IP is visible and in the original example "\\NAS1\" got trimmed to "S1\".

Looks like a bug in the new IV version, I suppose. I will contact the author then.

So it is a bug with handling network locations starting with "\\", that was confirmed by the developer. He was kind enough to share the patched version with me, and it worked smoothly. I suppose the minor fixed release will come out soon.

Hmm, WinGet data base is still showing the older version. So wasn't aware of this release. Been waiting for this one (or at least a release where they finally fix the slide-showed being displayed correctly - "while Sorted/Grouped by Date" / all the other image viewers could do that by default except irfan).

I get similar issues with saving files to my NAS under some circumstances, i've since added the NAS IP to the Local Intranet doohikie in Internet Options in the Control Panel and all is now well.

Do you mean you did this? I had it as well...
