Is 25H2 just a glorified beta program?

I was thinking with the slow rollout of all the hyped features and never ending issues that it's more like an Insider release,.where the unsuspecting general public are treated as unpaid Guinea pigs.

Actually, I've been thinking the exact same thing lately.

For something that was supposed to be a 'minor' version upgrade (24H2 > 25H2) it does seem rather bizarre the way MS is dealing with it. Especially after the smooth, no problems (for most people) transition to 23H2 two years ago which was also a 'minor' upgrade via an enablement package like 25H2 is supposed to be.

After waiting a few weeks and not getting offered the 25H2 'upgrade' I just used the enablement update which someone here posted a link to a while back. I'm now on 25H2 but I still haven't noticed anything different... no new Start Menu so far or anything else as far as I'm aware. Even after last week's 'Patch Tuesday' updates.

As I said - it's all rather bizarre. I'm already having nightmares about 26H2 in 12 months time which is supposed to be a major update unless MS changes its mind between now and then. If it is a major update then it will probably be clean install time like I did with 24H2 earlier this year.

I thought you realized that all Windows releases are beta releases!

A: All of Windows is just a glorified beta program.

MS call it continuous improvement.

I must add that I have my desktop PC on the general release channel and my Asus laptop running the Release Preview channel version. Both running 25H2 and have no current issues affecting either machine.

I wish you all naysayers and grumblies would just buy an an Apple computer. They are fast but there's little freeware and the hardware is deliberately made obsolete frequently. On Apple computers, the most popular office app is MS Office. What does that tell us?

my OS is Win7. It hosts Oracle VirtualBox running Win11. a way to test MSFT forever beta version.
