Is it Advised to Have 2 M.2 NVMe's from same company?


I have been using Samsung SATA and NVME drives exclusively for years without a failure.

Yeah gonna possibly get another Samsung NVMe, and later on the future replace Boot NVMe with Samsung as well i think is tentative plan right now. ((Boot Drive installed by Ibuypower that built this Ready Build AMD Ryzen 7 7700X Based Desktop is Kingston SNVS2S1000G NVMe)

Did Buy a Cruical 500GB drive, but might save that and use in another system in the future at this point i think

Anyhow i'll get it all sorted asap here, and should be good to go from there i think

The only real advantage sticking to one company is that you can often use the same utility to manage both drives, like for updating firmware and such.

on my box, I have a WD SN850 2TB NVMe, and I have a 2TB Sandisk SATA based SSD where I leave my games. Both are WD products, so I can use the same utility and not have to load 2 different tools.

I've always trusted Samsung, all my internal drives are Sammies - 990 Pro, 980 Pro, 970 Evo Plus and a 4TB 870 Evo.
Backup drives are a T7 Touch 1TB, and a couple of Samsung 860 Evos that were removed when I put the M2 drives in. These are connected using a USB-SATA adapter

I do not use Samsung Magician, it takes up almost 1 gig of space and is not needed. MS can manage Drives without 3rd party bloat.

All except for firmware updates, that is. The only alternative to using Magician is to download it as a linux-based ISO then boot from it.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM FIVE is a Dell Latitude 3190 2-in-1, Pentium Silver N5030, 8GB RAM, 1TB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro, plus Insider Beta, Dev, and Canary builds (and a few others) as a native boot .vhdx.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro 24H2, Hyper-V host machine. Updated to 25H2 on 30th September 2025.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.
Definitely going to Samsung i do think for my M.2 Needs, had a great experience on old system with my Samsung 970 Evo Plus Gen 3 M.2 NVMe, and for this PCie 4.0 NVMe think i'll definitely go with Samsung for sure now

Peformance so far hasn't been bad with this Kingston that was included from Ibuypower, but eventually definitely will have 2 Samsungs, and later on gonna get a USB C or USB 3.2 Samsung T7 External drive to replace Western Digital External (one of them lol)

Right now for externals have the following
