Is Macrium Reflect 8.1 Home still available to buy

DiskImageWorks appears to be still selling Macrium Reflect 8.

Quite by chance, I stumbled upon this rescue disk, a registered version of Macrium Reflect Server Plus 7.3.5281 x 64 on Internet Archive.

Having decided to give it a try, I found, to my surprise, the backup and restoration is faster than the free version of MR 8.0.

I timed my restoration. It took just 4 minutes.

Just 4 minutes. That is ridiculously fast.

None of the other backup software which I am presently using, including ATI 2021, Drive Snapshot 1.50, R-Drive Image Technician edition 7.2, O&O Diskimage 19 Pro and TeraByte Drive Image Backup & Restore Suite 3.64 is this fast.

New version 4.06 has added a performance tab where you can tweak setting individually or just press the alternative button to speed up backups.
I have been able to tweak setting to now make backups as fast as Macrium X.

I have taken a snapshot of your configuration for Image for Windows for future use. I am using it on my wife’s laptop. Thanks a lot, KevTech!

Those are not my setting that is the default settings.
This is alternative then I changed a few things from there that work for my system but may not work for another system.

The reason for the fast restore is that Rapid Delta Restore is a Premium feature, only available in registered versions of Reflect. RDR compares what's in the image with what's on the drive, and only restores the differences. Reflect Free will always perform a full restore of all the data, even if very little has changed.


RDR first appeared in Reflect v6 more that 10 years ago.

Yes, it appears they still have MR 8.1 available. But their prices are exorbitant, and so I’ve decided to give it a pass.

I found another registered version of Macrium Reflect Server Plus. It is 8.0.5942.

The restoration time from my SSD external disk to my HP EliteBook (SSD) is 1 min 5 secs.

MR never ceases to amaze me!

Price is about right as an upgrade with 50% off cost me 34.95

As soon as your recovery is done; I would recommend stepping over to an other product. The one I like is free of charge and they are updating their software all the time so it can cope with older backups; Hasleo Backup Suite Free. It's a very flexible piece of software and (also important) it is versatile and fast. As with backups goes; it has a limited shelf-live. Your not restoring a backup that is one year old. For permanent storage a cheap 8Tb drive maybe useful for storing data in the long run. It's much easier to find stuff then to search through each archive you made for a certain piece of data. In the past tapes where meant for that purpose. But as storage space climbs and prices drop a physical HDD is a good replacement for a tape. After a couple of months I delete my old backups prior than the last one. "I must save this" maybe true in the short run but when you have 10 older backup and never reverted to one then delete them.

If it's imported than I store the files on a 256 USB stick for future references. I mainly use one directory; it houses all kind of files of which I like to have the latest version of them like drivers for my videocard, BIOS, often used programs like powertoys, nzbget, sabnzb, qbittorrent, notepad++ etc. The previous versions I delete. Once every month I make a backup of my OneDrive space using robocopy. With the /MIR option it will update the backup of the OneDrive to the current one. It deletes files on backup location if they are not there currently and copies only the altered ones to the backup directory. Automate it by scheduling so I don't forget. The amount of time it has to spent is not that much seen that the previous one dates back from 1 month ago.
