You can just create an Explorer folder on the left side...

I also have Cortana disabled via Winaero Tweaker.

On Windows 11 you'll need to create the "Explorer" folder.
1. Just right click the Windows folder and choose: New > Key
2. Name the key "Explorer"
3. Then you can just use the registry patches in the link just above.

I just use the Taskbar for all the program icons. IMO, we don't even need that whole 1st page of the START Menu.
With the icons in the Taskbar I can run the associated program with one click.
With them on the 1st page of the START Menu, it's takes me two clicks, to run a program.

The 1st page of the START Menu is useless as far as I'm concerned.
The same with the "changes" they're making with Task Manager... useless. They're just rearranging it. :/

3rd party apps are no longer a workaround, they have now become the solution! Cuz, MS doesn't seem to give a :poop:!

Whether it's too late or not depends on whether you have had the Feature Update to Windows 11 Version 22H2. In 22621 you can now set the size of the Recommended section. You can't eliminate it completely, but you can reduce it to just one line.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. Yes, that's correct, as of feature update 22H2, you can choose the recommended section size, leaving a minimum of one line of icons, but if you want to remove the section entirely, Microsoft doesn't provide the solution (for now), you have to resort to third-party programs, and I think that this program is quite complete since it not only eliminates this section.

Still, it doesn't make sense to have Recent File/Folders in the Start Menu, let alone call it Recommended! 🤷‍♂️
That list doesn't belong in the Start Menu!
Like, I mean, who goes: "Hey where'd that song go I was listening to yesterday...", then open the Start Menu, expand the Recommended section and look for it? Who does that??? Nobody does that!!!
Every stinkin app has favorites, pinned lists, playlists or jump lists, etc.
It don't make no sense!!!

I just installed (and uninstalled ExplorerPatcher). I didn't find the option to completely remove the "recommended" section but, more importantly, it doesn't seem compatible with StartAllBack. A random Search icon got added to the left, and the spot it should've been (next to Windows Start icon) was blank. Uninstalling put things back to normal.

Possibly that is the problem, an incompatibility between ExplorerPatcher and StartAllBack. I currently have version 22621.819 and I have completely hidden the recommendations section.

Take a look at Winaro Tweaker it has multiple options to prevent unwanted free gifts / Apps etc

It's all reversible simply so see if one of the options removes what you want removed
