I don't know which genius figured it out it's a good idea to throw all the preinstalled Windows components into Microsoft store Library.

The only reason I can think of is Microsoft store is so awful nobody uses it, so whoever is responsible for Microsoft store decided to make all the default apps in the store, looks like everybody is using it, so they don't get their ass kicked out.

There are two different types of default Windows apps.

1. Removable Windows apps can be uninstalled by the user. These apps can be re-installed from the Store, and are updated separately from the Monthly Updates. You can check for new versions of the app on the Store.

2. Non-removable Windows apps cannot be uninstalled. These apps can only be updated when the Monthly Update replaces them.

Hello, :alien:

Unfortunately, any app installed from the Microsoft Store is considered "owned" by your Microsoft account, and will forever show in the library.

You can filter the Microsoft Store library to only show installed apps like below if it may help some.

No the store is just that, a store, so no, one can not hide apps.
Some users might uninstall a pre-installed app and then decide they want to reinstall it. What would you have them do, do a clean install of Windows just to get an app back? The store is a logical place for them to get an "owned" app back.
Many users never have a need to go to the store....ever. I think I might have been to the store only 3 or 4 times in 5 years. Much ado about nothing AFIC.

I am on a system with a local account (for daily use, the MS account is meant as backup in case I loose my activation).. I can download free apps from the store and I have done that a few times, always in my local account. How could the download be coupled to my MS account and added to the library?
