Is there a way to remove the 3rd screen ?

Hi

I plugged a second monitor I have with two cables DP, HDMI so it is basically one monitor but it appear in Windows as two monitors . Is there a way to remove one without unplug the extra connection from Windows or Adrenaline ?

Hi William. The “Ghost Screen” pops up here and there.
There were two suggestions in a thread a while back but I have no idea if either worked as the first post member never returned. It wouldn’t matter that I was referring to a Lenovo, I believe.

Extra monitors showing in display settings​

@antspants Thanks the first method I cant find an option to remove or disconnect. Can you post an image ?

I found now in device manager same monitor has caption (DP) and (HDMI) but disable one has no effect unless after reboot.

After reboot I found disable the monitor from device manager has no effect.

Out of interest, if you disconnect (cable) your second monitor do you still see the Ghost Monitor?

Most remedies I have found, lists option two (device manager) as a fix. It's hard to find any other advice.
As a suggestion, I would reinstall your video drivers and see if that sorts it out. Whilst both monitors are plugged in.

At the end of the day, as much as it’s annoying not knowing why a 3rd “Ghost” display is showing, it should have zero affect on anything at all, and could very well just disappear at any moment. I have experienced it but don’t recall doing anything. I certainly don’t have a ghost now, I run 6 monitors.
Edit: Seven after tomorrow.

No. Problem when I use extend mode on monitors the cursor travel to the third monitor where I dont see it.

Ahh right, yes that’s a problem. Have you tried the driver suggestion?

Post a screenshot of what you see if you Right Click the mouse on the Desktop then select "Display Settings"

What about switching up the array so the ghost is at the far right, out of the way?

You have that one monitor connected to the same computer with 2 sources simultaneously?

Yes and I want to disable one of them without disconnect the cable.

1) what’s the point of dual simultaneous connections?

2) will probably have to be a command to do so. Most likely with nirsoft utility or similar.

The only way I know of is:



but, I don't see that setting in Windows 11!!!
And, that option is probably not present for the ghost element anyway!!!

I think you're outta luck, chief! Windows sees both as inputs, period!
Unless the monitor's on-board settings provides a way to disable each hub!
