Nice.

Hi,
Yep still use office 2007 lol
Did just pick up a couple office 2016 plus keys very cheap

I bought Office Home/Student 2007 at eBay back in 2017. It works fine on both W10 and W11. You get a couple errors during the installation dealing with (cloud connections) but I don't upload documents to the cloud using the modern method. Great deals on used and new Office 2007 for about $15.00 to $25.00 online. Just be sure to get the original Key Code.

In April 2013 I purchased Office Professional Plus 2010 for a non-profit for $32 from Techsoup*. The purchase included Software Assurance for one year. Software Assurance was supposed to give me a free upgrade to the next version of Office. I forgot about this until last year. Even though Software Assurance had run out I wondered if I could still upgrade Office. I logged onto the account I had created at the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC). To my surprise the installation file for Office Professional Plus 2013 was there and the product key to activate it. I downloaded and installed Office Professional Plus 2013 on the non-profits computer to replace the copy of Office Professional Plus 2010 that was already on it.

Office Professional Plus 2013 was an improvement over Office Professional Plus 2010. It included some new features that I found useful.

*Techsoup is an authorized distributor for Microsoft volume license software.

I had bought Office 2013(retail) back in 2014 and used it for all thees years.
Suddenly I found that it would not activate, even though the keys are on the Office website in my account and it downloads and installs.
Did not bother to contact Microsoft for phone activation, bought a key for Office 2019 (Home, that has Excel, Word and PowerPoint) from some website and it is working fine !

I love it when I buy a new computer. I log in to Windows and BAM! All my files, pictures, documents, everything is right there. It's even better when you have more than one computer. They are all always totally up-to-date! I can run Photoshop/Lightroom on any computer and all computers are instantly up-to-date. I can edit a Word document and all computers instantly have the updated document. I love OneDrive.

I do a Microsoft File History backup at the end of every day on a portable SSD drive that is only attached for the few seconds it takes to do the backup. I want a local backup as well as a cloud backup. I'm paranoid about Ransomware.

It all comes down to users requirements.

I work for various clients and keeping up to date and cloud data storage is important. So leasing office 365 is the best option. I have the pro version (with 30% discount for £60 per year) which I can have up to 6 users, each with 1TB cloudspace and each user can install on up to 6 pcs.

It makes a great XMAS stocking filler present for families.

If you are not requiring business use, then it all comes down to what you use it for.

For simple basic letter writing, Windows has a simple tool - wordpad built in.

Libreoffice etc will meet needs of users who want more advanced facilities but do not need guaranteed Office compatibilty.

Older office versions are ok if guaranteed compatibilty with new versions is not essential.

It is funny how people often respond to posts like OPs - use this, use that but they do not ask OP to outline their needs to assess the most suitable solution accordingly.

Well, she pretty well answered and finalised the thread with post #6.
With only three posts in the forum, all in this thread, I guess she has all she needs.

She? You mean George?

We purposely leave all threads open, (except those that are closed down for a specific reason on rare occasions).

The thread is marked "solved " often by the original poster, sometimes by the staff. This "solved" shows up in internet searches telling a person with a similar issue that there is a solution here.

Often, as in this thread, other users add to the information provided, that can further help others

Also as the thread is still open if someone has a similar but only slightly different issue they can still post and get help and the members involved originally will get a message to say that the thread is still active.

It's the way it's always been with these forums, from the early days on Windows Vista - and it still works as well now

Hi there
much better clone for Ms Office is WPS office

In any case Office 2010 runs perfectly on W11 -- unless you are heavily into "Collaboration projects" or a really mega power user of EXCEL there's really nothing you can't do in Office 2010 that is available in even Office LTSC 2021. OK you won't get updates / security features - but with WD enabled and updated regularly you won't have security issues. Don't believe all the hype from "Security admins" when it comes to home computers --they are just "Job protecting" and trying to continue to collect their usually high fees. !!

Cheers
jimbo

I have been a member since 2007. Once very active, now declining with extreme old age and family illnesses.
It was a amoment of frustration which prompted my post.
I dont post much, anymore. I still browse this site (and windows 10) as, if you can sift through the repetitive posts, there are always very knowekdeable posters, with intersting comments. It can be difficult to find such, though, as I am sure you can appreciate.
Basically, what I am probably trying to say is that I come to forums to get interesting info, unfortunately, not to chat.
As I am sure you are musing, my option is to stay out, if it bothers me!:giggle::sneaky:

Just got my new Windows 11 computer and when I try to get Office running it tells me that it cannot find me. I bought Office 2013 back in 2014 so am I just out of luck or is there someone who can recognize that I purchased Office 2013 and have the email with Product Key? Since it is impossible to talk with anyone in large organizations I have a feeling that the answer is the former.

Thanks -

george
If you bought Office 2013 you should have either received a CD for it or received a digital download. The CD would have had the Product Key on it. For a digital download the Product Key would come in an email. In any case did you save both of them? If so you can reinstall Office 2013 on your new computer.

If you have neither then it might be possible with a little effort to find the Office 2013 install media online. It also might be possible using software to retrieve the Product Key from the drive on the dead computer. I have done this for Office 2007. Whether this can be done with Office 2013 I don't know.

BTW, I have been using Office for over 25 years. No version I have had was specific to any one computer. I could always install any version on a different computer as long as it was uninstalled on the previous one. If the previous computer was dead then all I had to do was wait long enough and Office would activate on the new computer without problem. If Office 2013 was installed on the old dead computer years ago then there would be no wait. If Office 2013 was installed on the old dead computer recently then all I had to do was wait a few months and I could reinstall it again on the new computer.
