Issues with photoshop in 25H2

I thought I was doing fine with 25H2 and no issues - until I tried to use photoshop. Sluggish to open, crashing, graphics issues generally. The sort of thing I'd expect with the wrong graphics driver. But I have the latest Intel graphics driver (which works better than the last 2020 HP driver).

It's just adobe photoshop 2025 (although got it in 2024!) - I assume it updated itself. Photography plan.

so creative cloud then (i was referring to CS or CC). i dont use CC but i'll look online for some info

Just did a driver compatibility check within photoshop and it says the graphics driver is compatible but also recommends an update as the current one is 7 months old. I don't think there is an updated one.

When using your PS program, In System, Display under Graphics, are you using the on-board or a dedicated GPU?
Or you do not have a dedicated GPU?

It seems there is a later graphics driver - new this month. Updating it.

did you add any new plugins?

try - inside photoshop:

Edit > Preferences > Performance > Uncheck "Use Graphics Processor"
Edit > Preferences > Performance > Memory Usage > increase it
Restart Photoshop

if that doesnt work, default all photoshop preferences:

Hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift when launching Photoshop > Prompt will ask if you want to delete the settings file > Confirm (Photoshop will reset to default preferences)

Thanks. I'll see what it's like now I've installed the latest graphics driver. Just found there is a newer one, quite recent.

That seems to have sorted it

I guess intel produced a new graphics driver after 25H2 was released.

Sorry I missed that - I only have integrated graphics.

No not sorted unfortunately. It's doing it again. It seems to be whenever I use the mouse (screen goes black or a black bar appears in the bottom half).

Edit > Preferences > Performance > Uncheck "Use Graphics Processor"

Just tried that and the screen went permanently black

Tried increasing ram as well - no difference. Just found this as a known issue for PS 2025 which it says is resolved, but it isn't!

I don't have Nvidia drivers and have updated my Intel driver. It's using the mouse and the selection tool. I guess I'd better contact Adobe. Not sure if it's 25H2 or the fact Adobe might have been updated.

Try System > Display > Graphics > Advanced graphics settings

Turn Hardware acceleration ON and OFF see if it makes a difference.

Some things like hardware acceleration, some don't.
And... it can change over time.

P.S. Browsers also have their own hardware acceleration.
So anything browser related will have to deal with the Windows setting and the browser setting.

Also, you may need to go back a few driver versions... IF PS worked, then driver update, then PS didn't work.
And... sometimes an MS driver will corrupt an already installed driver.

So the following may be needed, if you haven't already done this...

Just to confuse the issue I saw Photoshop 2026 had appeared on my start menu - and in creative cloud I now have two versions of Photoshop - 2025 and 2026. Both are showing as an update as well. So I opened the 2026 version and that works ok. But if I right click on a photo to choose photoshop it only gives me the 2025 version to choose from. Very weird. Anyway the 2026 version seems to work fine - fingers crossed. Also weird as it's not 2026 yet. But I've never had two Photoshop programs in Creative Cloud before.
