Hi,
What machine are you using with all these issues ?

Why haven't you returned it.

I kind of liked vista lol but liked 7 more.
I still have my full retail Vista Ultimate media :( I liked it too. It just needed enough ram to be usable and most system sold back then were coming out of shops with 1gb if they were lucky so it got a bad rep mostly because system oem's were dumb.

I loved the live backgrounds and stuff and widgets and oh wait....some of that sounds like windows 11....

Sorry to say, that I really like Windows 11 over Windows 10. Some of the tweaks I used in Windows 10 is standard in Windows 11, and Brink is (as allways) very good to put guides out here for a lot of tweaks in Windows 11 too.
But then again, I got a Compaq PC with Windows ME back in late 2000 (I think it was), and it ran stable except my HP-printerdriver. Win Me requested a restart every time I printed something.

Mostly build for gaming, and I'm waiting for a 31-34" 4K 144hz OLED (or VA) with (compatible) G-sync.

Asus
It just might be the laptop and not the OS that's responsible. :)

As for 8 and 8.1, I'm not intimating that the OSes are bad, just that they are... ridiculous.
Ya know, sort of like the Start button or context menus on Windows 11.

Just because something doesn't blue screen, doesn't necessarily mean it's... good.

ME was a disaster from start to finish. Vista was slower than dirt.
8 and 8.1 were OK I guess if you were on a smart phone or touch tablet.

I mean there's nothing dumber than Doritos and a touch screen in the same room. ^^
And we all know that Doritos are required by law. :)

Think back to Star Trek: TNG. They had touch screens.
But the part you touched and the part you viewed were different screens.

I mean, I have no problems with Microsoft and their "touchy feely" inclinations.
But they need to bring suitable hardware to the game as well... if they want to go that way.

Maybe something like this...

You could even fabricate laptops in a similar layout.
Laptops have a base and a lid. There's tons of wasted real estate on the base.

In the computer industry, both the software and the hardware people have great ideas.
They just need to get on the same page, with their ideas.

Smart watch... pfft.
Smart sleeve... niiice.

This is my very first 3D Paint pic. So no laughing, or maybe just a little laughing...
I give you the Smart Sleeve...
(right handed, wear on left forearm)

View attachment 9856

LOL. Wouldn't even need right and left handed models.
Just a toggle in the software to flip the screen(s), top to bottom.

View attachment 9858
Asus have sort of done that already - zen book duo (guess you could turn off the touch element to the main screen).

Bought a new computer and decided to install 11 on it and it was one headache after another. Ran it for 6 days and ran into these issues:

-USB randomly dies out(requires restart)
-Bluetooth randomly dies out(requires restart-sometimes I have to remove and reinstall all Bluetooth devices to make it temporarily work) Even bought another BT adapter.
-CPU usage for "system" randomly sticks at 25% and to computer runs like a car with the E-brake partially engaged(requires restart)
-Programs randomly crash.(Requires restart)
-Turning off the Windows Defender Live Scan doesn't actually do anything.(Windows still detains my crack files for questioning)

I don't think I've restarted my computer this many times since the Windows 9x days.

Everything was solved by installing the latest Ghost Specture Windows 10 Lite (Windows 10 still sucks without a condom, but I'm guessing even the fool version of Windows of 10 would be more stable than this nonsense)

For a more stable and pleasant PC experience stick with Windows 10. That's what Microsoft should have done.
Was it a clean install? Which computer is it?

Ooh I LOVED XP. Grieved over it - lol. Kept using it till no longer supported then went straight to Windows 7. I can’t keep up haha. Only just got used to W10.

So if it doesn't work for you, it's rubbish for everybody? ;)
"It's official"; big words. Speak for yourself.
Do share the brand of the computer and/or where you bought it though!

I thought Vista was great. I custom built a computer to run the OS with a Pentium 3.2Ghz processor and a gaming graphics card. I welcomed the new Aero Glass which differentiated Vista from it's predecessor, XP. All had performance bottlenecks that wern't really resolved until I utilised multicore processors and SSDs on Windows 10. But that, as they say, is progress.

Win 95 = bad
Win 95 OSR2 = good
Win 98 = bad
Win 98 SE = good
Win ME = bad
Win XP = good
Win Vista = bad
Win 7 = good
Win 8/8.1 = bad
Win 10 = good
Win 11 = ???
Sigh - this old chestnut conveniently ignores NT, 2000, service releases etc which would throw of sequence.

Actually Windows 8.1 was fine and far superior technically to Windows 7 once you added a 3rd party menu.

Sigh - this old chestnut conveniently ignores NT, 2000, service releases etc which would throw of sequence.

Actually Windows 8.1 was fine and far superior technically to Windows 7 once you added a 3rd party menu.
Hi,
Problem with third party workarounds most are not free is updates usually messed them up
Classic shell dude just gave up 10 updates wore him out.

If the third party developers cannot do as they should to maintain their compatibility to windows then they should not offer their mods in the first place. It's never been Microsoft's responsibility to ensure their OS works with third party software, and although they may help someone like Adobe if they have an issue with windows they are not going to consider the tiny one man outfits

Not fair? maybe, but it's the facts as they are

Yup.. Adobe is a huge business partner and they will help them out. As for others as in private people/groups that provide mods.. no.. they don't have to help them out.

I would have thought that the third party modifiers would have waited for the final version of 11(.194) before making changes. But they didn't and if they're worn out that's on them.

Hi,
Point being third partyware shouldn't be necessary but always is because ms has selective listening.

As long as the operating system will run the applications for my work, I do not care what it looks like I do not sit all day staring at windows wishing it had different corners or none at all (like androids switch to circular icons). The OS is just a tool to help me work (and you can replace work with Play Games, watch videos. or any other purpose for using a computer .

Even Windows 8/8.1 though it was not the most natural way of working for me - I would only be in Windows 8.x for a few minutes a day at most, so it was not an issue at all - I learned the essentials in the first hour or less that I used it and got on with productive work.
