Besides the messed up UI I did only notice on W11 that the PC starts faster out of sleep.
But IMHO that would not yet qualify enough for the best thing since sliced bread :wink:

(especially since I do bake my own bread!)

No. Microsoft never said that. One over-enthusiastic engineer originated that remark and the Press jumped on it.

Jerry Nixon made an off-the-cuff remark at the Ignite conference in 2015, that's all.

If Windows 10 was supposed to be the last version of Windows, why is there a Windows 11? Well, because Windows 10 was never officially the last version of Windows.

Despite all the back tracking it absolutely was widely promoted that W10 was going to be the last main change with ongoing updates.

If you want to make make a product Successful | Test it FIRST| then Approach the Vertical Market(Get backing)FIND most of the BUGS.
Then sell Horizontal.
Not the other way around.

There never was anything to 'back track' on, because MS neither confirmed nor denied Jerry's statement - just consistently held their typical 'no comment' position to this day.

Microsoft didn’t deny what Nixon said, but it also didn’t back up the “last version” of Windows, either....

...all Microsoft would officially confirm then is the concept of Windows as a service, and that there would be ongoing patches and updates. Microsoft declined to comment on the record.

Good point though - it’s not back tracking if they didn’t say it. But neither did the quash all the publicity at the time.

And anyone who believed that had their head deeply buried in the sand. Win10 had to come to an end sooner or later. That end was either it completely dropping out of the market or being replaced with something new. I would not consider the shelved product of Windows 10X something new.

Microsoft is a corporation. The purpose of a corporation is to make money for the shareholders. You say "you are selling GIMMICKS and trying to make Money Horizontal." Well, in fiscal year 2021 MS earned revenues of $168,088,000,000 up 18% from last year. MS income was $69,916,000,000 up 32% from last year. This would seem to indicate that your statement is incorrect. MS is not trying to make money. Microsoft IS making money.

I think that a roast beef sandwich made with Windows 11 for sliced bread... would taste really bad.
As an operating system though, Windows 11 isn't that bad.
If MS would just lay off the START menu, context menus, the File Explorer ribbon bar, and finish fixing the L3 cache issue with AMD Cpus, I would be a happy camper.
I also think the hardware (security) requirements are not necessary, at least for a desktop computer.
