Just out of interest

I have Panasonic DVD player/recorder and just lately I noyice that many operations are slowing down and what I cannot find out is whether the device has a CPU or similar sort of chip that needs tidying up.
Any ideas really appreciated.

Pardon me asking but how do you tidy up a cpu?
But no, a DVD player/recorder doesn't have a cpu. It does have control circuitry. I'm not sure what you mean by "it's slowing down" but these devices do wear out and become less dependable over time. They're cheap and very easy to replace.

Thanks Glasscutter the device I have is starting to slow down when I turn it on and go between the various buttons on the remote. As for cleaning the CPU I meant if it did have some sort of operating system I could clean the drive and system by running something like the DISM command? But thanks for your answer much appreciated.
