Something has changed on 9/21/2022, looks like MS fixed the W.U. loop/error that was occurring after upgrading with MS ISO 22621.382.

I just tried this again about an hour ago upgrading from 22000.1042, used the same MS ISO that I used yesterday while online and checking for updates.

This time it went directly to 22621.521, W.U. downloaded directly kb5017321 during the upgrade process, no need for a second step from 22621.382 to 22621.521.

I did not have to install kb5017321 separately or use any other workaround that I had to use yesterday to fix the W.U. loop/error problem. Looks like the issue is solved, finally some progress.

Thanks for this as I had the same problem as you but this worked a treat after a copy/paste from your post into an elevated terminal. Quick, easy peasy. Now to install Win 11 22 H2 onto a non-compatible machine (System Two in My Computer stats).

This is the current official release of 22H2, which is the same as a previous Insider Preview release, and there is no release notes on either??? Not meant for you Shawn, but MS!

So is anybody else getting these ugly extended desktop context menu's with this build? I upgraded from 22000.1042. This is in dark mode by the way.

Oh well, 22621.521 ended up being a big disappointment on my little laptop due to it borking up all my context menus. Restored my backup back to 22000.1042 and the menus are fine again. I have 22622.601 on my other PC with no problems so no idea why this version is squirrely on the little laptop.

No idea how you get those strange context menus, mine look normal.
Your whole screen looks pretty weird.
Can you show the equivalent screen shot after you restored 22000.1042?

Seen the Win11 update icon for 22H2 on taskbar yesterday and got around to it today. All went well and smooth, .NET Framwork update installed also. OS Build 22621.521. Lets see if it stays smooth :)

LOL, it's pretty much the same just with the normal black context menus now. Under 22621.521 some of the context menus would also be widely space out and pretty unreadable.

Looks to me that you have some custom mods on your machine that seem to screw everything up.

Na, just rainmeter skins which have never interfered with Windows. Plus with them disabled all the context menus were still borked with that build.

So far, nobody else has the problem you describe.

Your menus show also square corners, where are those coming from?

No idea, no other build does it and no windows customization skins installed. I believe MS was releasing this build in stages on WU for PC's deemed ready for it so I guess I'll have to wait further.

I also used the "Windows 11 Installation Assistant" to update from 22H1 to 22621.521
Instead of the About Windows I took a look at the registry /CurrentVersion.
Interesting the different release numbers in the Build Lab info (attached)

Your screenshot shows things that I don't normally see in the extended context menu:

System Restore
Control Panel
Create Restore Point
Restart Explorer
Safe Mode

Are you sure you've not either modified the context menu, or else used an app (like WinAero Tweaker, etc.) to modify something?
