Hello Windows Insiders, today we’re releasing Windows 11 Builds 26100.1297 (KB5040529) to Insiders in the Release Preview Channel on Windows 11, version 24H2 (Build 16100).

Below is a summary of the new features and improvements included as part of this update separated into two sections: gradual rollout and normal rollout. The bold text within the brackets indicates the item or area of the change we are documenting.

Had a second Desktop at Build 26100.1150, and it switched from R.P. to Dev on its own and tried to download 26120.1252.
Had to jump to the hoops to get it back in Release Preview channel.
Deleted WindowsSelfHost key and rebooted.
Then rejoin insider R.P. channel and check for updates again to get KB5040529.
This is the second machine that tries to switch insider channel by itself.
One switched from 23H2 R.P. to 23H2 Beta.
This from 24H2 R.P. to 24H2 Dev. Why are the insider channels switched without user intervention?

The Lock screen status is set for Weather, but Weather is not showing up in the lock screen at all.

All OK. This update fixed an Nvidia install problem. The latest driver wouldn't install on the previous version. I kept getting a message my GPU wasn't compatible, even though it was listed among those the driver was for. The driver installed without hesitation after I did this update (no fix in the Nvidia driver file since it was the same download that failed multiple times previously).

Unable to install on my system (tried several times).

Eventlog also shows: Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x800703F9: 2024-07 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5040529).

Installed fine for me this morning before I left for work but Windows was showing 3 instances of component store corruption in the Event log, which was confirmed by running /dism /scanhealth in an elevated Cmd window.

On running, /Dism /restorehealth it got stuck at 62.3% for about 10 minutes before it completed with a successful message. Dism /scanhealth now runs fine with no component store corruption and sfc /scannow showed no errors as I ran that first.

Hopefully, a one-off hiccup!

On running, /Dism /restorehealth it got stuck at 62.3% for about 10 minutes before it completed with a successful message. Dism /scanhealth now runs fine with no component store corruption and sfc /scannow showed no errors as I ran that first.

Hopefully, a one-off hiccup!

Leaving an update here in case anyone else runs into this issue. Windows Sandbox prevented this update from installing for me (and apparently several others). Removing windows sandbox and rebooting allowed this update to install successfully.

Hi.
I also had Nvidia gfx driver (v.560.70) install issue on build 26100.1150. After upgrading to build 26100.1297 thru iso obtained from UUPDump, Nvidia drivers installed just fine.

I believe the answer is no. The latest official iso from Microsoft is build 26100.1150.

I've had this issue too after an update. To rectify, restart computer & scan should go much faster 😊
