Hello Windows Insiders, today we’re releasing Windows 11 Build 26100.2152 (KB5044384) to Insiders in the Release Preview Channel on Windows 11, version 24H2 (Build 26100).

Below is a summary of the new features and improvements included as part of this update separated into two sections: gradual rollout and normal rollout. The bold text within the brackets indicates the item or area of the change we are documenting.

Gradual rollout​

The following features and improvements might not be available to all users because they will roll out gradually. Text bolded in brackets indicate the area of the change being documented.
  • [Start menu] New! You can directly access content on your mobile device from the Start menu on your PC. Using this feature, you can view your device’s battery status and connectivity, access your voice messages, calls, and photos, and pick up where you left off with the latest activities on your device. Only Android users who are already connected using Phone Link can get this feature. iOS support will be coming later. To manage this feature, go to Settings > Personalization > Start. [UPDATE 10/14] This feature will roll out to Insiders in Release Preview on Windows 11, version 24H2 at a later date and is not rolling out yet with this update.

I tried numerous things, but I couldn't fix it after installing KB5044384. I restored an image made just before installing it.

Ahh! That is the first mention I see of this. That has been plaguing me. I thought it was just me. Had not posted about it because I didn't do my due diligence in trying any troubleshooting on that yet.

Here is a sneaky way to get the update:

Find that build in UUP Dump (26100.2152) and start downloading it. In the folder that you run the script from, after it downloads the files, search it and all subfolders for KB5044384 and you will find the standalone installer :-).

Had a problem with the backup I mentioned above on half way so, it had to be restarted again.

Finally got the installation done the way @hsehestedt pointed out and looks like everything is okay!

I always get this except when running sfc in safe mode for some reason I have yet to discover.
I have tried all suggested remedies with no luck.

@hsehestedt If you have the 6824 error this is what you can do:
Boot from an usb with the latest build on it. Select your language and letter. Than select rescue DVD. The computer will restart and then choose solve problems and than prompt.
Only trick is then to find which drive is you drive with your Windows installed on. You can do this by selecting each drive (type in drive letter i.e. d:, press enter), and then typing in dir/w in my case my drive was C
So, type in the following:

DISM /Image:C:\ /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup /ScratchDir:C:\Temp I use C because my windows is on drive C

Waited for it to complete, reboot and then run

Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase there will be no more errors.

I don't know if there is any fix for the KB5044384 bug. I restored an image, but uninstalling KB5044384 may also fix your problem until a proper version is released.
