I have checked NOT to receive that I did receive have not downloaded. I received one about a month ago really messed up my laptop. I could not uninstall plus best buy could not either I had to have them reset my laptop
right now, it is sitting outside my update wanting to know if I want to download and install. I will not how do I get off my laptop

That is normal for preview updates. It's giving you the option of downloading the preview or not. Know, however, unless you pause or turn windows updates off, you will automatically get that same update when it goes into release on update Tuesday on Sept 9.
As long as you have updates on you can't "get it off your laptop." It will automatically be applied.

Maybe you think that toggle means you have windows update turned off. It does not. All it means is you don't get updates in early preview, but you WILL get them when they go to release.

Know this as well. Monthly updates are cumulative. In other words if you pause updates until the next month's cumulative, all the changes in this update will be included in the next.

This is how to pause or disable updates. I do not recommend that you turn updates off though.

PS: Had you created a system image BEFORE last month's update caused you problems, you could have restored that image and not had to take your laptop to Best Buy.
Also last month's windows update could have been uninstalled had Best Buy read its MS support article. Just not through windows update. Per its MS support article, one had to use DISM/Remove-Package command line option with the LCU in order to uninstall it.

I sent my concerns and checking "I did not want to receive preview" did not due one heck of a good it still went through any way to Feedback forum. But I did go to two sources for help on what to do, you and copilot thank you for your advice
