Hello Windows Insiders!

Today, we are making this year’s annual feature update Windows 11, version 25H2 (Build 26200.5074) available in the Release Preview Channel for customers to preview ahead of general availability later this calendar year.

Windows 11, version 25H2 will be delivered as an enablement package (eKB). This means that Windows 11, version 24H2 and version 25H2 use a shared servicing branch. It also means that they also share the same new features and enhancements delivered through our continuous innovation efforts. Windows 11, version 25H2 also includes some feature removals such as PowerShell 2.0 and Windows Management Instrumentation command-line (WMIC). And for our commercial customers, Windows 11, version 25H2 includes the ability for IT admins to remove select pre-installed Microsoft Store apps via Group Policy/MDM CSP on Enterprise/EDU devices. For more details on Windows 11, version 25H2, see this blog post.

Windows Insiders in the Release Preview Channel can install Windows 11, version 25H2 via our “seeker” experience in Windows Update. This means if you are an Insider currently in the Release Preview Channel on a PC that meets the Windows 11 hardware requirements, you can go to Settings and Windows Update and choose to download and install Windows 11, version 25H2 if you want. Once you update your PC to Windows 11, version 25H2, you will continue to automatically receive new servicing updates through Windows Update (the typical monthly update process). For instructions on how to join the Windows Insider Program and join your PC to the Release Preview Channel, click here.

Commercial* customers enrolled in the Windows Insider Program for Business can begin validating Windows 11, version 25H2 on PCs in their organizations. For these customers, the Windows 11, version 25H2 is available through Windows Update for Business (WUfB) and Windows Server Update Service (WSUS). Azure Marketplace will be available later today. You can learn more about deploying pre-release feature updates using these deployment methods here. Should any issues arise, IT admins in organizations deploying Release Preview updates can request Microsoft Support.

And finally – ISOs will be available for download for Windows 11, version 25H2 via the Windows Insider ISO download page next week. [UPDATE 9/10] The ISOs for Windows 11, version 25H2 are now available for download.

WMIC removed a long time ago.

New features were and are being added to 24H2 (Beta and Dev), all the enablement pack does is switch them on - some of them are already active
Compare 24H2 .5074 with 24H2 .1742 for example, there are lots of new things

I wouldn't notice as I enable all upcoming features of interest with vivetool Lol. That's why I was surprised when I heard people on this 25H2 and the other thread saying they didn't have certain features.

Enabling features with Vivetool means you won't notice them when MS make them officially available!

I deleted the windowsselfhost key on my mom's machine to drop it out of dev and back to rp but didn't run the 5074 installer so its like 500 ahead of the current build.

Before I ran that app, I did an inplace upgrade repair. Maybe that helped??

Odd I upgraded and still have PowerShell 2.0 or do you have to do as clean install not to have PowerShell 2.0?

sorry. English is not my native language. So I can't explain these things in English.

You can wait for Microsoft to release these gradual features according to the Windows Roadmap schedule. Or get early access to these future features via #88 registry keys. If you want to revert the changes, just delete the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\FeatureManagement\Overrides\14" registry key.

If you are worried about changes. Don't forget you can use VMware Workstation Pro or similar virtual machine tools to get early access to these future features.

You can create a Windows 11 environment on a virtual machine.

I think you didn't import all the keys. New Start works fine for me. 26100.5074, 26200.5074 and 26220.5770 all work fine.

I guess you don't use ViVetool to enable hidden features. My choice. I won't be following Microsoft's rules, so I can choose the features I want.:-)

  • Improved dragging a window to the top of the screen displays these tiling options. Pressing WIN + Z shows the options with Number Key Shortcuts displayed in them, which you can press to activate the chosen tiling arrangement.
For Improved WIN + Z action also avaiable in Windows 11 23H2 Build 22631.5771.

1) 22631.5771 has no new features. 23H2 not get new features anymore.
2) I'm on 26100.5074. 24H2.
