Improvements

This out-of-band (OOB) update includes quality improvements. This update is cumulative and includes security fixes and improvements from the October 14, 2025, security update (KB5066835), in addition to the following:
  • [USB] Fixed: After installing the Windows security update released on October 14, 2025 (KB5066835), USB devices, such as keyboards and mice, do not function in the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE). This issue prevents navigation of any of the recovery options within WinRE. Note that the USB devices continue to work normally within the Windows operating system.

Windows 11 servicing stack update (KB5067360)- 26100.6893​

This update makes quality improvements to the servicing stack, which is the component that installs Windows updates. Servicing stack updates (SSU) ensure that you have a robust and reliable servicing stack so that your devices can receive and install Microsoft updates. Known issues in this update

1 Problems playing protected content in some BluRay/DVD/Digital TV apps

Symptoms
Some Digital TV and Blu-ray/DVD apps might not play protected content as expected after installing the August 29, 2025, Windows non-security preview update (KB5064081), or later updates.

Apps that use Enhanced Video Renderer with HDCP enforcement or Digital Rights Management (DRM) for digital audio might show copyright protection errors, frequent playback interruptions, unexpected stops, or black screens.

Streaming services are not affected.

Workaround
The non-security September 2025 Windows preview update (KB5065789) and later updates address problems affecting certain applications that use the Enhanced Video Renderer (EVR) with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) enforcement. The non-security October Windows preview update (KB5067036) includes additional improvements to address problems affecting applications using Digital Rights Media (DRM) for digital audio.

2 IIS websites might fail to load

Symptoms
After installing the non-security September update (KB5065789) for Windows 11, version 25H2, or the security October update (KB5066835) for Windows 11, version 24H2, server-side applications that rely on HTTP.sys might experience issues with incoming connections. As a result, Internet Information Services (IIS) websites might fail to load and display an error message such as “Connection reset – error (ERR_CONNECTION_RESET)” or a similar message. This includes websites hosted on http://localhost/ and other IIS connections.

This issue may result from various conditions, including internet connectivity, timing of update installation, and device restarts. It might not occur in all environments, even if the update is installed.

The following steps can help resolve this issue in environments where it's observed:
  1. On the affected device, open Settings and go to Windows Update.
  2. Select Start , type Check for updates, and Check for updates from the results.
  3. If updates are available, install them.
  4. Restart your device.
Note: Make sure to restart your device, even if no updates are installed.

This issue is addressed in KB5067036.

Download all MSU files for KB5070773 from Microsoft Update Catalog and place them in the same folder (for example, C:/Packages). Use Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM.exe) to install the target update. DISM will use the folder specified in PackagePath to discover and install one or more prerequisite MSU files as needed.

Method 2: Install each MSU file individually in order

Download and install each MSU file individually using DISM or Windows Update Standalone Installer in the following order:
  1. windows11.0-kb5043080-x64_953449672073f8fb99badb4cc6d5d7849b9c83e8.msu
  2. windows11.0-kb5070773-x64_6640d1a7a2a393bd2db6f97b7eb4fe3907806902.msu
1 This latest cumulative update includes updates for AI components. Even though the AI component updates are included in the update, the AI components are only applicable to Windows Copilot+ PCs and will not install on Windows PC or Windows Server.

If you want to remove the LCU

To remove the LCU after installing the combined SSU and LCU package, use the DISM/Remove-Package command line option with the LCU package name as the argument. You can find the package name by using this command: DISM /online /get-packages.

Running Windows Update Standalone Installer (wusa.exe) with the /uninstall switch on the combined package will not work because the combined package contains the SSU. You cannot remove the SSU from the system after installation.

Has anyone else noticed this issue? Where the following occurs: On every Windows login, the desktop icons seem to get force-refreshed.

The desktop icons are very briefly showing up as generic icons. This happens with every reboot.

The desktop blinks once, but the screen doesn't blank out. It's like the Explorer icon cache got broken.
I see that refresh after a reboot on 2 machines, but not after a sign out and sign in.
Perhaps it is an intentional change?

If it's of any use to your analysis of your issue, I keep an absolutely clean desktop, devoid of any icons, not even the Recycle Bin. No blinking happens here.

I just checked also on Release Preview 26200.7015, got the same behavior.
I see a refresh of the desktop icons a few seconds after signing in after a restart.
It does not happen by simply Signing out and back in. 🤷‍♂️

I did a online repair install on Friday of Windows 11 Pro and the computer was running fine.
Yesteday (KB5070773) was installed via Windows Update and my Apple Magic Touch Keyboard connected via USB is not working when I start the computer.
I have to switch the Keyboard Off and On so I can enter my Password.
I have been through all the USB Settings and turned off Power Management, deleted the Keyboard from Device Manager and let Window reinstall the Keyboard.
Bluetooth is disabled on the Computer.
Any other thoughts on what I should try please?

I have to switch the Keyboard Off and On so I can enter my Password.
This reminds me of a strange issue my Corsair Strafe keyboard has, when the CMOS is reset and BIOS configuration defaults loaded, where I must unplug the keyboard then plug it back in. It won't respond to presses, if I don't unplug the keyboard and plug it back in.

This update changed something on the USB drivers for mouse and keyboard, perhaps your keyboard is not compatible with the drivers they changed.
You may have to reinstall a USB driver that is specific for your keyboard. 😵‍💫🤷‍♂️

Thanks again fg2001gf11F, I found an old Microsoft USB keyboard and it works fine.
I like the Apple Keyboard for typing, I will see if any updates from Microsoft Fix the Issue.

I was able to get one desktop and one laptop to finally get to Windows 11 Home 25H2 26200.6901 by going to "fix problems with Windows updates" and pressing "reinstall". You should get the version of Windows that you have back, plus the out of band update. I did and there were no failures and no problems.
I tried to update my 2 laptops with KB5070773 last week system2 (Asus Oled 2023) no issues but System1 (Acer PHN16-71) failed with the 0x80070306 error, what ever I tried. finally did the repair (Fix) feature today and that installed again (have 2 x 25H2 repair versions now) but it did not bumped me to build 6901 so I tried again to install KB5070773 that failed. Then ran DISM online and SFC /scannow that took hours to complete and found many errors. Ran SFC again and was about to restore my monthly backup, decided to try one more time and KB5070773 installed OK. now on build 6901 but lost Windows Spotlight in the process, installed Dynamic Theme from the MS store for my background.

Thanks again fg2001gf11F, I found an old Microsoft USB keyboard and it works fine.
I like the Apple Keyboard for typing, I will see if any updates from Microsoft Fix the Issue.
You may try uninstalling the latest OOB update KB5070773 and verify if your Apple Magic Touch Keyboard connected via USB still works.
Then you wait for a fix after you report the specific problem to Microsoft through FBH.

whenever I open "Start" to search something (e.g. CMD or etc.), the search screen only shows a white screen like this:

How can I fix this? What’s causing the issue? is that MS account search option? I didn’t experience this problem on version 24H2. I just did a clean install of 25H2, and it started happening.

The ISO file was not modified—it’s the official one. I didn’t run any scripts or make any changes. Both DISM and SFC show no errors.

Open Task Manager -> Details tab -> find and select SearchHost.exe (or SearchApp.exe) -> Click End Task. Does opening Search - look ok now? If not, maybe the Search UI process is corrupt. Might help resting it through PowerShell (started as Admin):

Its odd after doing a repair with KB5070773 still not installed I tried installing the update. After an hour I gave up as nothing was downloaded so paused updates to stop it. Other updates have been downloaded and installed.
