Windows 11 version 24H2 End of Servicing on October 13, 2026

Current status as of March 27, 2026

Windows 11, version 24H2 Home and Pro editions will reach end of updates on October 13, 2026. Devices running these editions will no longer receive fixes for known issues, time zone updates, technical support, or monthly security and preview updates containing protections from the latest security threats.

Windows 11, version 25H2 is the latest version of Windows available.

Devices running Home and Pro editions of Windows 11, version 24H2 that are not managed by IT departments will receive the Windows 11, version 25H2 update automatically. You can choose the time to restart your device or postpone the update..

If you have an eligible Windows 10 or Windows 11 device, you can check whether the update is available by selecting Settings > Windows Update and selecting Check for updates. If your device is ready for the update, you’ll see the option to Download and install Windows 11, version 25H2.

I am a father of five providing PCs, laptops, and tablets for all my family, most of which I have modified, rebuilt, or simply built from scratch. I do not own a cell phone, never have, never will.
My opinion is

If members choose to believe we are paying Microsoft to be beta testers, I think that it is reasonable to assume any, all or one of the following statements could be true:

  • They have a PC with hardware/software/settings configurations that fall outside of the reasonable testing conditions performed by Microsoft
  • They don’t know what they’re doing.
  • They like beating a dead horse.
But by definition, we are beta testers for everything in life, including “life”

I do earn my keep by submitting info on issues and problems to MS via the Feedback Hub App, does that mean I don't have to pay? 🤷‍♂️

:::shrugs::: It is what it is. Depending on what PC I'm using I likely qualify for all three and then some or none. Indubitably there are also some who satisfy all three points and still don't think they're beta testing. I love beating the dead horse aka Windows 11. I'm hoping that by the time Win 12 rolls out it might even be an OS worth using. Who knows? No harm in being optimistic. :winkt:

Might be lucky, but I am still of the opinion, if 12 does make it to light, whatever comes next will resemble IOS or an Android setup. Limited to no manipulation.

Voicemeeter app might unexpectedly close causing a blue screen exception error
Devices running the Voicemeeter application are incompatible with Windows 11, version 24H2

AND

Fingerprint sensors might experience problems after a device is locked
Several device models are affected. A compatibility hold is in place. Updating device firmware might resolve the issue.

I think it has to do with some of the anti-cheat mechanisms in some games?

Windows 11, version 24H2, also known as the Windows 11 2024 Update, is now available.

This latest version of Windows is being rolled out in phases, and it has now entered a new stage of availability. Version 24H2 is being offered to a wider range of eligible devices running Windows 11, versions 22H2 and 23H2. To check if the update is available for your device, simply select Settings > Windows Update and select Check for updates. If your device is ready for the update, you’ll see the option to Download and install.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven below to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro.

Select games might stop responding on Windows 11, version 24H2 devices
Issue might occur when starting, loading, or during active gameplay. In rare cases, you might receive a black screen.

And

Chinese tax filing or government-use applications might experience issues
Multiple applications are affected. A compatibility hold is in place. Updating applications might resolve the issue.

Outlook might fail to start with Google Workspace Sync for Microsoft Outlook
Devices running Google Workspace Sync for Microsoft Outlook are incompatible with Windows 11, version 24H2
