    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

I have an orange tree in a pot that needs bringing indoors before tonight's frost. It's 40+ years old and as tall as I am. Safety while lifting and carrying will be my top priority !

Very much appreciated. Yes indeed, do be careful. Lift with your legs, keeping your back straight, as much as possible. ;) I'm still in the process of babying my back, but if I were there I would certainly help.

I bet the tree is beautiful. I once knew a couple who had one. They gave me a couple cuttings and instructions on getting them started. They did well for several months, then died. Typically I've always had good luck with with growing, but not so much with the ornamental orange trees.

Mine is the ornamental calamondin orange tree, grown from a pip that I harvested from a fruit that had dropped from its tree. If I'd known then what I know now I may not have bothered. It takes 15+ years before a citrus tree is mature enough to flower - and mine took 25 years!

Apparently it's quicker to grow to maturity if you take a cutting from an already mature tree. In all the years I have tried I've only made two successful cuttings, and usually I'm pretty good with that sort of thing. My cuttings are both doing well, but at only a couple of years old they haven't flowered yet. I live in hope.....

Apparently it's quicker to grow to maturity if you take a cutting from an already mature tree. My cuttings are both doing well, but at only a couple of years old they haven't flowered yet. I live in hope.....

Yes, that's the one. You'll find plants like that, covered in fruit, for sale in garden centres here. But left to its own devices it wants to become a tree. Pruning is what determines the size of your plant...
A calamondin orange tree can live for more than 50 years and grow to seven metres tall in open ground. Prune your container grown tree to limit its spread (anything from 1m to 3m) so that it’s straightforward to move it into its winter quarters and easy to reach the fruit. Pruning also encourages the production of flowers and fruit on the remaining branches.

...the tree came off a bit worse that I did. I had to trim the tips of a couple of branches to fit it though the patio doors.
Just means I have some material for another attempt at taking cuttings.... :wink:

This was my tree in flower, back in June this year.

All those flowers have now become little green balls about the size of a large pea. It should be a good crop of fruit by the spring next year. Fruiting can be variable, this year should be a good crop, last year it didn't flower. This was how it looked May 2021, my last good year for fruiting.

It's a sunny day, but it was low 30's this morning with frost on the lawn. Mid morning now and it's still only 8°C/46°F. If I'm lucky it may just touch 10°C/50°F this afternoon.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM FIVE is a Dell Latitude 3190 2-in-1, Pentium Silver N5030, 8GB RAM, 1TB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro, plus Insider Beta, Dev, and Canary builds (and a few others) as a native boot .vhdx.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro 24H2, Hyper-V host machine. Updated to 25H2 on 30th September 2025.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.

Good morning Bree, wow ... your temps are colder than mine today. I actually hit 62° yesterday ....which shocked me. I have not had any temps near 30°F here yet. Coldest it gets so far is in the low 40's so far.
