A friend of mine told me about 3 weeks ago that after your router gets to be 5 years old ....or older, you should replace it with the newest version.
So after looking around ....I found the latest NetGear router at my local BestBuy ....I went down to BestBuy and found they only had ONE left on the self .....bought it and installed it last week ....my computer now re-acts a lot quicker and updates my apps a lot quicker now too. I do see a big difference since updating my router to the newest release. :-)

Well Good for you Mike .I have to say you really keep your Computer up to date which is a good thing.I usually wind up waiting until something starts acting up on mine before I replace it.But I know your way is better . :wink: (y)

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven below to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven below to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

I don't know how you can get away with one service appointment per year. I had a whole handful of Beetles back in the day. I even shipped one of mine to West Africa from the US when I went to work there for the State Dept. I had to have servicing done MUCH more frequently than once a year.

When I was in Sierra Leone, we had a GREAT German-owned, German-staffed VW repair facility in Freetown.

Most modern cars have a 12,000 mile/12 month service interval these days. VW dealerships even offer a longlife service, using 100% synthetic oil, that's 24,000 mile/24 months (though it can work out cheaper to go for the standard annual service). Your VW Beetles (and my Classic Mini) specified a 5,000 mile service.

Guess I'm out of touch with modern cars now. My last was a beautiful 2002 Buick Century, and I kept it, loved it, and cared for it for seventeen years. Then when I dinged it up a bit in an accident, the insurance company said ANY amount of damage to a seventeen-year-old sedan was the equivalent of totalling it, so they offered me a much more than fair settlement, and I've never replaced the old girl. A little too old and tired to start driving again, I'm afraid.

Same here Bree , i'm in my 70's and where I live in the country, everyone has to have a car or truck, because there is no public transportation in my town. Heck we don't even have sidewalks ....anywhere here. LoL
