Well, think what you will. I'm not big on rainbow puke but I don't mind a soft blue glow (apparently Jim didn't either). A PC doesn't have to look like a disco to have a tasteful night light effect. In fact, I find it soothing at night. My daughter prefers none, My other daughter prefers red on white and black. My other other daughter wants red on pure black, and my other other other daughter wants it all. (That's the crazy lovable red head.) Seems there's no accounting for taste. Mother wants pink. She gets it. Even all the LEDS are pink. Oi, weh. Women can be so hard to please some times. :dizzy:

I love purple.. That is why i chasing 1000 points so my name in here gets purple instead of a pink :-)
But when it comes to my computers.. i would love to have purple chassis on my desktops and laptops.. But i dont like LED light as i want as little "disturbance"(i didn't find a better word in english) as possible when i work and is focused. 🤓

Too bad they don't make it anymore. It also came in purple. Not even sure if Apevia exists anymore but you can still buy Apevia accessories online. Yup. It was those analog gauges that caught my sweetheart's eye too. The front boasts some generous bay space as well so her OS drives are all SSDs in a RAID cage. So far it serves her purposes and more importantly, she's happy with it.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to lid hinges starting to break up this laptop has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    Info for 2021-2026:
    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

Thanks, My bad sleep is long term stress related.. and its nightmares(my reality-problems i dream about in a worse-twist) that wakes me up at least 1 up to 4 times a night. And no pills removes REM sleep. :-)
and if they did it would have bad consequences, as dreams is our brains way to sort memory's in to the long-term memory or to forget about it. So without REM-sleep we would either start hallucinate(dreaming in waken state) or we would forget everything we hear, read and sees.

Yeah i have started to understand its not good to be long-term sick in USA. 🫤

My next computer is going to be built in a Commodore PC 10-II chassis or in a IBM 386 chassis. 🤓
(have extra chassis of them as non working i have kept as spare parts to my working ones)
As for color.. I can always paint or put on those wrap colored folie..
But i always stick to its original black or gray in the end..... I'm to lazy to disassemble it all and then put it back again. 😇

I had that sort of ambition when I was a younger man. I've seen some amazing stuff done with ancient towers (and I do mean towers). I think a purple tower would look pretty sweet.

I would probibly do a color job on a laptop instead of a desktop.. as i have my desktops on the side almost hidden behind my monitors, so i dont see them anyway.

Two laptops put together that i had dissembled several months back that i should build in to a 4U chassis for a low powered HA cluster.
This two had broken chassis, one broken hinges and cracked chassis.. one had not all parts and also cracked chassis and a broken screen and a broken keyboard.
So i have been cutting plastic from other things, then plastic welded both chassis, i took parts from other broken laptops(read spare-part laptops).. and one i had do make a new bottom chassis to as that one was missing.
Darn i started at 3AM to 6AM yesterday.. then today after 5PM up to now... and with a lot of breaks as i dont have the energy for continuous work.
So a total of 6 hours in total.. and now i have two laptops to start installing OS, Hermes and LLM's on.

As i no longer have my collapsed core network and home-lab and Vlans.. i have to do a home-network-cheat-solution for safe isolation..
AI-agents is dangerous in a network. *LOL*
So i will take an old EOL router.. i have an old Netgear 1GBit Lan 100Mbit Wan.. so that one can become a cheat-isolated-vlan. That router Wlan will be hooked up to my other Laptop i run VM's on and use a USB-lan adapter as passthrough to a VM that has a isolated VPN-connection and network monitoring.

I hope that will be enough network security if the AI-agent run amok. 😁
