How do you stop MS from downgrading the Intel video drivers ? I updated to '1660' yesterday morning. Went out for the day
and when I cam home I noted a 'restart' required. The restart was for a 'down-grade' to 1191. Reinstalled 1660 and this morning
I noted there was another driver update from MS to '1404' - Drat! again could not find a way to reject, had to install that, then once again
install 1660. This nonsense has been going on for some time, but its getting tiring.

Strange, my drivers updates a re always under Optional updates.

You can select option in Group Policy to not include drivers in Windows updates:

Thanks AndreTen,
I was / have been getting driver and other MS manufacturer updates under 'Optional' updates. I have found over time that sooner
or later those updates will get applied whether I want them or not. That is how I discovered updates were being pushed by MS.
I always keep my video drivers up to date and when I got ready one time a couple years ago I noticed that the driver had been
downgraded. So I got into the habit of checking 'optional' updates frequently to avoid surprises.
I used Brink's excellent post and added the registry key to 'disable' the updates. I'm using Windows Home, so I don't have
a Group Policy editor.

Thanks to Spartan for the reply as well.

Could be a difference between Home and Pro, but I own both, and never happened that optional update would install by itself. Or at least I don't remember.

Anyway, glad that you found the solution

Driver updates sometimes install automatically. Windows has a mind of its own.

I was having the same problem of Windows installing old Intel graphics drivers but I noticed that since I started using Driver Store Explorer and deleting the old drivers it has stopped.

The registry hack did not seem to work as MS pushed a HP system firmware update this morning.
