Actually it was the other way round, LTSC lags behind Home. All the bug fixes in the Feb 2025 patch for LTSC were patched for v8.1 Home back in October 2024.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro 24H2, Hyper-V host machine. Updated to 25H2 on 30th September 2025.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.

My upgrade subscription price for my 4 MR8 keys to MRX was $49 USD. For me, the value is definitely there. As always YMMV.

Thx. Also, I don't understand why the annual plan requires trade-in but the 3-year plan does not. Why would I want to keep my v8 license? Why does the annual plan for life have a 7-day grace period but 3-year plan does not? And finally, which is the better deal?

Maybe I'm doing my math incorrectly and someone can point out my error. I bought a four pack for $140 and generally the version lasts about four years before the next version comes out and support on old expires. So 140/4/4 (Price/years/machines) or $8.75 per machine / year. Now it is $50 / machine per year if I understand correctly. Assume half the annual plan if I upgrade before end of month or $25 / machine per year. (yes I rounded amounts)

I know they have a four pack deal for X but says does not apply to upgrades

Where have I gone off the rails? Maybe I shouldn't be comparing to old pricing but I don't see what justifies the very large price increase. Pretty much all the support you need is on forum.

I've not looked at recent pricing. I took advantage of the first upgrade offer for my original MR8 and my MRX subscription cost annually is $12.50 per license for my 4 pack. That's a pittance and going forward I'll always be up to date with the latest version.

The current vX deals are called 'Upgrade Offer' - so yes, does apply to upgrades.

If you choose the '50% off Annual Plans for Life (subscription)' 4-pack deal, your cost per machine would be $12.50. But that offer ends today (Mar 31st).

Personally, I think the "license trade-in" requirement is bogus. After-all I purchased v8 with a perpetual license several years ago and thus I own it and want to keep it. But to do so I must decline the 50% off deal. That requirement favors only Paramount Software UK Limited by locking-out customers from reverting to their perpetual license product - which is of no benefit to their customers. I'd call that a bad-faith offer.

Personally, I'm more than pleased with my MR8 to MRX upgrade. After using MRX there's no way I would want to downgrade back to MR8 running at half the speed and is no longer up to date. I make a MRX nightly image of my 1TB C: drive on a 4TB Samsung T9 portable SSD in less than 4 minutes. I love it.

The introductory offers ended on 31 March, as Macrium always said they would. That includes Gary's "Trade in your one-time license and receive 50% off the normal annual plan price for life" and the one I took by buying one more v8 licence just before the launch: "Trade in your one-time license and receive a 3-year Annual Plan at no extra cost".

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

Thanks for your comment. I finally decided to go with the 50% off lifetime upgrades deal. Haven't installed vX yet but your comments are very reassuring. Hope I'll have the same opinion once I start using vX.

I wrote back and the Channel Manager agreed with my figures and said they had to make some tough decisions to ensure their ability to deliver to customers and that included price increases. While I was still able to get the upgrade offer that is now expired.

As V8 works and speed is not an issue for backups that run in the middle of the night on a network, V8 it is. If it stops working then I'll get a couple of VX licenses. A good backup tool is essential.

I have Ver 8 right now installed, if I try out the trial ver of X can I go back to my paid ver of 8 if not happy?

I doubt that it would be easy but maybe with Sales Support and a lot of effort. I'm sure there are charges involved so credit card would see a ding. I started down the process and you have to agree to the change, it felt very permanent to me. I would write sales, they've always responded in a timely manner.

All that said the upgrade offers are expired as far as I know. Again Sales may be able to help.
