Solved Latest Macrium Reflect 8 updates

I noticed Microsoft has updated the expire date to 10/17/2026
According to a recent update thread on the Secure Boot Objects GitHub, MS deliberately rotates through a series of one-year "leaf" certs to sign the boot manager. And this particular one will be the last in that series, since they can't generate another past the Oct 2026 deadline.

@hughsie that looks to be intended. Our leaf certificates recently rotated for this CA - they both chain to the Microsoft Corporation KEK CA 2011.

20250902 - signed by certificate thumbprint 2c181a475fb7e3d83a742d69b543d14ba0ac38ae
20260402 - signed by certificate thumbprint b514f92b4ba43b894f8c1aca9fe6a3ed4007bba8 (valid 3/12/2026 - 6/23/2026) <-- this will be the last leaf certificate for the KEK CA 2011

After that, presumably they'll switch a new round of one-year certs after October.

From these results, you haven't revoked the PCA 2011 cert. Any boot file version is eligible.

When you revoke the CA 2011, the same binary file includes a starting SVN of 2.0 or 5.0. Since yours is (none), it implies your UEFI doesn't have PCA 2011 in the DBX. The Secure boot task has updated your EFI's boot manager to the latest version, but there is no SVN enforcement.

As soon as PCA 2011 is revoked, you may have to rebuild the recovery drive (depending on how long ago it was created).

Bugger me... not to offend the Macrium lovers with my vulgarity, but OMFG Stupid Bloody Macrium!!!
Late July 2025 my computer stopped booting – I asked for help here – no response. Restoring back to any backup over the prior 30+ days of incrementals, differentials and full backups ALL FAILED. Blue Screen BSOD again and again. After 2 months and purchasing numerous recovery tools, I gave up....

This week, I managed to recover my PC. What did I do differently? I clicked Disable RDR Delta. WTF guys!? If so sensitive and so problematic, why on earth is RDR enabled by default on boot discs or within the app?? Back to 2nd June 2025 as July backups all were BSODs.

Macrium, you owe me compensation for eye strain from 11 months of using a cheap 12" Ali Express client 'loan' notebook. 😋

@Flipmode, I consider this a very unfair rant (and I'm not even a Macrium fanboi). A user of a product needs to know how a product functions... that's called due diligence.

A quick lesson... RDR does not mess with disk blocks that have not been changed by the operating System. Why... because it saves a massive amount of RESTORE time when returning an image to the System. If the contents of a disk block has changed without the operating System's knowledge (your device, your problem, I believe) then there's no way REFLECT or any other application can know that without comparing every single bit on the disk block with its reference image... nobody does that except AX64 (now defunct) and Image For Windows (feature not used very much anymore). If you understood how RDR worked, the first thing you would have tried would have been a non-RDR FULL restore (re-write everything, including all unchanged disk blocks... takes longer but usually eliminates these types of issues. As you found out, it solved your immediate problem (but surely not your longer term issue).

What you described as an issue is, in my eyes, a storage device beginning a longer term failure scenario... better be ready. Normally, the storage device itself would flag, to the OS, this type of DATA failure (based on internal DATA error detection/correction codes)... in your case, it did not, something else to worry about with that SOURCE storage device.

Be gentle with your application developers... :-)

No, nothing from Macrium yet (if ever?). This subject has gone quiet on Macrium forums too.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.
