I also just use the standard Microsoft Standard NVM Express Controller (As Always with all my Windows Versions)
My Desktops are all Asus Motherboards with Intel 11th & 12th Gen's and all have i9 CPU's

My system is running in Intel RAID mode as I did a Google search earlier which said one had to be in AHCI mode. And I switched the UEFI BIOS SATA mode from RAID to AHCI and this time I booted the Samsung Firmware tool in VenToy in normal mode, somehow using VenToy has the text that takes up the width of the screen and full sized, if I booted the Samsung Firmware tool then it only takes 5% of the corner of my 15" 4K display for all the text and in AHCI mode, it worked and updated the firmware except I ran into another issue.

I used Mosby which is from the author of Rufus earlier to do the Secure Boot Certificates for the 2023 so the system no longer booted. I had to Delete All Keys, Reset All Keys in the BIOS and then used the USB flashdrive I created earlier to fix it so I can boot with Secure Boot enabled as Secure Boot disabled would work:

And I would always boot after that to make sure it boots up before redoing the Mosby again and this is the results:

I don't know if it's a good idea to switch Windows from RAID to AHCI since it seems risky.

I wanted to ask another question, is it a good idea to use Full Power Mode because it seems like Samsung gives a warning below saying product warranties may not apply to the drive's high temperature and data loss due to long-term use which means it would invalidate the warranty.

Thanks, am I supposed to have the Standard NVM Express Controller's as this is what mines shows:

Your screenshot reveals that Intel VMD is set to enabled in BIOS. Otherwise the Intel RST Premium driver would not have been installed, and, instead, the Standard NVM Express driver (in-box driver from Microsoft) would've been shown in there. As long as Intel VMD is enabled, neither Samsung Magician nor the bootable ISO firmware upgrade tool from Samsung can see the controller of the Samsung NVMe SSD—they can only see the Intel VMD controller instead. The bootable ISO gives the advantage that it should be able to work after you temporarily disable VMD so then you can simply re-enable VMD in BIOS after you use the bootable ISO to make the firmware upgrade succeed.

(Having Intel VMD set to enabled also adds Hot Swap capability to any NVMe SSDs that you have hooked up through it.)

Yes, as seen in the post right above yours, I figured out the AHCI vs RAID bit, never knew it was called VMD since I always thought they called it either RST or RAID and VMD seems to be what they called it in newer chipsets. Thanks for providing the Dell links as well. Other than the issue mentioned, are there actually performance differences between Intel VMD vs AHCI? The issue is my notebook only supports one storage device so RAID is not going to really help. It just seems like the Intel VMD driver may never get updated while the AHCI will still get updated.

Dell claims that their IRST driver (which is a customized driver from Dell so it is based on the generic driver from Intel, but not exactly the same driver) helps to improve performance even on systems with only a single physical drive, but they claim it in an article in which they seem to avoid the whole nuance about NVMe (and about the relationship between VMD and it). Understanding Intel Rapid Storage Technology for Dell | Dell US
Also, the lastest IRST driver from Dell (for your XPS 15 9570) dates back to June, 2021. I'd doubt that the Intel IRST driver with VMD performs better for you than Microsoft's in-box StorNVMe with AHCI. Probably it will be the opposite, but I wouldn't expect any big difference anyway. So, if you don't need and/or you can't use things like Intel Optane, RAID, hot-swap, Dell factory imaging compatibility or legacy compatibility, then yes, I think you'd be better off switching from VMD (RAID mode) to AHCI. It's not that hard to do, but switching it back might be a tad more tedious to get figured out (unless maybe you're doing a clean install of Windows 11 or maybe you already know how to switch it back because you've already done it a dozen times).

I am not using Dell's Intel IRST driver but instead the latest one I found which is Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST-VMD) Version 18.7.7.1013 WHQL which reports as 18.37.7.1013 so the newer 18.8.0.1004 will not even work as the 18.37 would appear as a higher number. But in any case, I can see how to switch from Intel RST to AHCI but are there instructions anywhere to go back to Intel RST? Is this one correct?

My other question is when using the Intel RST drivers, does Samsung Magician actually work otherwise for everything else besides the firmware upgrade?
Switching to AHCI isn't a problem, the other issue is that if there is a BIOS update as while the Dell XPS 15 9570 BIOS has not been updated since 1.27.0, it shares the same motherboard as the Dell Precision 5330 so I am using the 5330 BIOS 1.42.0 like others are doing which still identifies as a XPS 15 9570 in ths BIOS and everywhere else, so when upgrading the firmware, I always do a load factory settings and the SATA is always on the Intel RAID by default. Wouldn't I run into a issue if I didn't change the SATA to AHCI?

You are comparing the internal driver version vs package version, which don’t align numerically. Package version 18.7.7.1013 WHQL includes IaStorAC 8.37.7.1013, which is the RST Premium driver that you currently are using. This package also includes a VMD driver, but your laptop uses a HM370 chipset, and, this chipset supports RAID mode but not VMD. I was wrong about that part... sorry for the confusion. Package version 18.8.0.1004 WHQL does not include IaStorAC even though the INF inside this package does include the matching Hardware IDs thereof. On systems that have a legacy controller in their chipset (such as the one that's inside your HM370 chipset), all this newer package does is install the UWP app. I.e., this one.

AFAIK the correct guide for the XPS 15 9570 is this one: Switching between AHCI and RAID on the Dell XPS 15 (9560)
If you forget to change the BIOS setting back to AHCI after you changed it to factory default (i.e., RAID) it will BSOD with INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE because Windows tries to load StorNVMe instead of IaStorAC, and fails because StorNVMe needs AHCI to work. When this BSOD happens you can just enter the BIOS again to change the setting back to AHCI. Then Windows boots normally again. The only "issue" is that, by default, Windows restarts the system automatically each time after a BSOD. So, to avoid getting an endless BSOD loop, you might want to change this registry setting if you haven't done that already.

How are people finding the new 990 PRO firmware 7B2QJXD7
To address the intermittent non-recognition and blue screen issue. (Release: September 2025)

I installed it on both my 1TB and 2TB drives and everything seems to be running smoothly.

I installed The Newer 990 Pro series firmware (7B2QJXD7) at 8:30am on day it released on both of my NVMe drives, 1TB with Heatsink and 990 Pro with 3rd Party Heatsink just fine thru Magician that early morning of release day on Thursday 9/18

No issues to report, and i typically am using my system for 12-14 hours a day, i think with what i normally do, i'd already seen if any issues, but so far smooth as can be

I typically check for Newer Firmware every 2-3 months, just a habit of mine, as well as System UEFI bios updates

So, to avoid getting an endless BSOD loop, you might want to change this registry setting if you haven't done that already.
reg add HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\CrashControl /v AutoReboot /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f
Many thanks!

I never figured out what the chipset model was other than knowing it's called Intel Coffeelake-H. 18.8.0.1004 WHQL will not even install on my system when 18.7.7.1013 is already installed as it will always say I already have the latest drivers installed.
Is that registry key the same one that tells Windows when there is a MiniDump for a BSOD to not restart?

Is that registry key the same one that tells Windows when there is a MiniDump for a BSOD to not restart?
It changes the "and then we'll restart for you" to "and then you can restart". It’s this:

I ignored the warning in Bios, and changed it from Raid to AHCI and it then took the frimware update in Magician, problem finally solved. :)

I was having a issue with TestMem5 from running, worked out that it was a issue with the samsung app running in the background.

also when updating the bios i'm sure it asks to be in ahci mode or i've read that some where before.

I just posted the update because the First post still lists Version: 8.3.2.850 as the latest unless one specifically clicks on the link you posted which is also in the 1st post, otherwise you would not be aware of an update.

I used to use Samsung Magician when my SSD was fairly new and still receiving firmware updates. But when the firmware updates dried up, I didn't see any point in keeping it. So, I uninstalled it.
