I had the September 2025 Version 7B2QJXD7 for My Samsung 990 Pro 1TB and Samsung 990 Pro 2TB NVMe drives

Both are on the released version received via Samsung Magician Software, this time was no problems updating both drives at the same time. So far everything seems to be working just fine.

here is the change logs for the

Samsung NVMe SSD-990 PRO Series Firmware
- (8B2QJXD7) To improve read-operation stability. (Release : December 2025)
- (7B2QJXD7) To address the intermittent non-recognition and blue screen issue. (Release: September 2025)
- (4B2QJXD7) To address reports of high temperatures logged on Samsung Magician. (Release: December 2024)

*990 PRO I 990 PRO with Heatsink will be manufactured using a mixed production between the V7 and V8 process starting September 2023.

Let's hope it helps the odd issues I have been having with my 1TB drive, where occasionally it gets paging errors and then Windows cannot see the drive until a reboot. Magician shows no errors nor does Crystal Disk Info

Just updated my Firmware with the new version of Samsung Magician 9 all went well with my two computers just have to do my other four computers.

No so far all good at my end. But then again Ive never had any issues with Samsung Drives or their Firmware's. Ive been using them for years with all my computers and with my clients. You do pay a little more for their drives but it's worth it for stability, performance and reliability.

That's not necessarily always true, though. When the 2TB version of their 980 PRO came out in January 2021 it was ~450 Euros where I live. Only 10 1/2 months later I got it at 229 Euros inc free shipping.

I was referring to Samsung Drives in general compared to other brands. They are not cheap here in Australia and the prices are stating to climb due to shortage all because of AI just like memory has.

OK, but from what I can see, the WD Black 2TB SN850X and the Crucial 2TB T500 are still currently a little bit more expensive than the Samsung 2TB 990 PRO in Australia. The only drive around the same (good) performance level and similar high brand reputation that I could find in Australia at a cheaper price than the Samsung right now is the MSI 2TB Spatium M480 PRO. So, when you say "other brands", I have a feeling that you must be looking at cheaper DRAMless (usually QLC with slow-folding, slow-recovering, pSLC cache) offerings with noticeably lower performance and lower NAND durability levels—and that cannot hold a candle against the Samsung 990 EVO PLUS despite that the latter also is a DRAMless SSD.

Personally I'm not going to compare prices of different SSD Drives.
Yes they are up there in price and there is others that are more expensive and others that are cheaper but you get what you pay for.
My main stipulation is that Samsung Drives have stability, performance and reliability.
Never had an issue with one ever, and I've had a few.

That plus the very heavy discount I got from a reputable online retailer were the main reasons why I grabbed the 2TB 980 PRO in 2021. So, no argument there.
