Leak of upcoming features for Windows 11

I have been told by more than one member that big corporations are the controlling factor when it comes to Windows being what it is. Can anyone tell me what big corporations pushed for rounded corners, new emojis and desktop stickers?

As of December 2021, approx 74% of the worlds PC run Windows so it doesn't really matter what anyone wants because whatever MS dishes up the masses in the end have to go with the flow, or go to Apple (the absolute king of rounded corners) Or Chrome OS (rounded corners) or Linux with their sudo this and sudo that bo!!ocks. It's not all about corporations it's about total market share whether that it personal or corporate. I suppose my point is if you can dictate the market you dictate the market

So to answer your question directly I expect that no corporations have asked for rounded corners and the like but it really doesn’t make a scrap of difference

I think you're missing my point. Basically I was told that MS didn't care about what the individual users wanted. MS was only going to listen to what major corporations wanted. Going by what I was told major corporations must want Windows to be more child like.

FWIW.. my impression was that business wanted their employees to do less tweaking and more working... but I could be wrong.

I wouldn't call 11 more child like.. it's an evolution on 10.. and yes.. there's still 10 around if anyone doesn't like 11

Most corporations won’t upgrade to W11 for a long time, by this time who knows W11 may well be as functional as W10. I do get your point but despite what MS told you or whoever told you the simple fact remains that MS can do whatever they want to, their market share allows them create whatever they want with

When I was working in an IT shop the last thing managers wanted was to have the staff messing with the PC's and not working on their assignments. Also if staff did mess with their PC's it made the support staff have to work that much harder to rectify any issues that device may encounter.

I also recall using various OS's other than Windows to get my work done.. OS/2, Linux.. so we were never limited on the choices we had

I would agree with not calling it child like but come on, spending the time and resources on childish things like rounded corners, new emojis and now desktop stickers! I'm sorry but that is so immature and MS needs to be told that it is. I can't customize my start menu because major corporations don't want us to but we can have rounded corners, new emojis and now desktop stickers. I call it Bull!

I doubt it took all that much effort to round the corners.. just some tweaking and bingo.. done. MS,, is simply giving what it's paying customers want.. why they want it that way is beyond me but I don't pay the bills for MS so I have to accept what they give me.,. or I don't. I can opt to use a different OS.

With that,, I'm done.

If rounded corners was that easy then why was it phased in? There is so much that MS can do to make Windows 11 so much better than Windows 10. As an example, instead of worrying about rounded corners, new emojis and desktop stickers why didn't the put their resources to work to give us a tabbed File Explorer? Now we are supposed to get all excited about having flags waving in the wind. I'm sorry but I'm to mature to worry about stuff like that and I'm sure a large majority of Windows users feel the same way.

I suspect the majority of Windows users use Windows to run app and get work done.

We all do. As long as MS allows third party apps to make the changes users want, I guess we can live with it. The problem is MS can render the changes useless anytime with a new update. Speaking just for me, I don't mind as long as MS doesn't make our tweaks useless with a new build.

They had rounded corners in Windows 7 and want them back. Some have been moaning about the square corners since they first appeared in Window 8.

When I'm thinking about what's next for my students, I play solitaire because it's mindless and I can click and think at the same time. And then came the ads.

OK, I can live with that; what I couldn't live with was that when an ad was served up, the sound was so jacked up that it nearly blasted my eardrums out of my head.

I complained in feedback. Others gave the same feedback I did, I'm sure. Finally, Microsoft listened and now I have the ability to turn off sound when an ad is served up. Microsoft went a step further . . . once the ad is finished, my normal sound comes back to solitaire without any input from me.

I'm pretty sure that in this case, it wasn't the big corporations that wanted the ability to control ad sound; they'd probably want it there so they could hear when employees were playing solitaire rather than working.
