When my Lenovo desktop goes into sleep mode, there will be times where I am unable to wake it again from sleep. This only happens sometimes. When I touch the Mouse or press the Enter key on the keyboard to wake it up, it wakes up and I can see that my power light has a steady light indicating that it is on, but I see no indication from the Monitor that it is on (The monitor shows no screen activity and the power light on it is orange (amber) indicating that it is still asleep. I don't know if the computer is having a connection issue to the monitor or not. The computer is not old. The monitor really isn't either. The monitor is an HP monitor that came with my old HP desktop and it is connected via HDMI. Also, the computer makes a high fan noise sound when this happens. I would like for someone to help me get this sorted out as I don't like having to manually turn the computer off each time to get it to show a picture.

Thank you, Jesse Williams

Since your issue is intermittant, troubleshooting it will be trial and error. First make sure that it is actually sleeping and not hibernating. Using file explorer, open the root of C: drive. Check to see if there is a hiberfil.sys file there. If there is, the PC is hibernating.
Turn off hibernate- open command prompt as administrator and type powercfg.exe /hibernate off

To further troubleshoot sleep issues, this article from Dell is the most complete one I have found. Use it as a guideline as its principals apply to any brand PC. Steps for Fixing Windows Computers that Do Not Wake Up or Resume from Suspend or Hibernate Mode but Will Power On | Dell US Of course, you would get any drivers or bios updates from Lenovo, not Dell.

@glasskuter: I am not seeing a hiberfil.sys file anywhere.

You have to touch the mouse or keyboard more than once, keep moving the mouse around, and keep tapping the enter key.
It will come up again.

I am wondering if disabling Hybrid sleep in the Power Options menu will fix this?

disabling Hybrid sleep
It is not common for a desktop PC to use hybrid sleep. I have only seen it in laptops. To see what sleep states are available open command prompt and type powercfg -a
Post a screenshot of the results.

If my understanding about power states is correct, having fast startup disabled also disables the PC from being able to use hybrid sleep. If my understanding is incorrect, someone please correct me.
According to your screenshot ,fast startup is disabled.

This article goes into more depth about ways to disable hybrid sleep. Since you have Windows 11 Home, you don't have group policy so you would have to work in the registry. If you do this be sure to back up any key before you make a change in it.
How to turn off Hybrid Sleep when PC is on battery or plugged in

By the way, thank you for filling out your PC profile. It's a big help.

Something else Jesse, graphics drivers can sometimes cause sleep issues. Your profile only says Radeon Graphics. Do you have the latest Windows 11 graphics driver? https://www.amd.com/en/support

@glasskuter, I will check to see if the latest graphics driver is installed. But it should be the latest one as I just updated it not long ago. Also, disabling Hybrid Sleep did not correct the issue. It still went into a deep sleep causing me to have to power down the computer manually and powering it back up manually to get it to show what is on my screen.

It took me to the BIOS and Power Options Settings in the Dell article, and that's where I got stumped. I went into the Lenovo BIOS settings, and it has some power setting options in there, but I don't understand it all really.

To understand the settings in bios, you need to download the service manual for that particular machine from Lenovo. If they do not offer a service manual, it might be in the user manual. How old is that machine? Is it still in warranty?

OK Jesse,I went to Lenovo and there are 4 different graphics drivers there. It appears the graphics driver is dated 12/21. If you have Lenovo Vantage on your computer, your can open it and scan for driver and bios updates.

If you do not have Lenovo Vantage app, you can login to Lenovo at desktops and all in ones :: 5 series :: 5 14are05 - Lenovo Support US
Then you put in your serial number. Click detect product and Lenovo will scan your system for any outdated drivers.

There is no maintenance manual offered and the user guide does not address bios settings so I can not help you there. All bios are different.

Try the other steps in the troubleshooting article and skip bios settings, especially do sfc /scannow

.

Update: I am still facing issues with the Lenovo desktop not showing a screen on my monitor after waking it from sleep. At this point, I am tired of messing with it. Does anyone know of any more troubleshooting to do on it besides sending it in for warranty service to Lenovo? I have had HP computers in the past, and they have never had an issue like this as this Lenovo is having.

Yes it is still under warranty. But help from Lenovo was not good as they acted clueless when I asked for help.
