What is the main advantage of a licensed Macrium? Just curious. Because I just manly use it for imaging which is included in the free version.

@badrobot For most people's backup needs Reflect 8 Free does its job well with full and differential backups. The paid home version also lets you encrypt backups, has what they call Image Guardian that is ransomware protection for your backups, lets you do incremental backups, offers Rapid Delta and Restore and Rapid Delta Clone, and has file and folder backup.

@badrobot, In addition, you get 1 years free support from Macrium Reflect Support, which you can optionally renew (but like most things, if you get issues, it is usually teething issues).

You may also become a participating member of the Macrium Reflect Forum (in perpetuity) which is rather like this forum, and tbh, the guys there solve vast majority of issues.

To me, Rapid Delta Restore is the most awesome feature.

Suppose you do a regedit and it screws things up. On the free version, if you do a restore, the whole of the backup is restored.

With Rapid Delta Restore, Reflect identifies the changes and restores by difference. This is really fast.

With this offer, you can buy 4 licences for normal price of 1.
Even if the 4 licence deal is beyond peoples means, even buying 1 licence for main pc at 50% is well worth it.

A lot of members on this forum also paid for a licence, just simply because they wanted to support a company that supports you.

Note: this is a perpetual licence and you are entitled to updates for life.

At some point in future, they will issue Reflect 9 and you will be allowed to upgrade (no commitment to do so) at 50% of cost. I usually just wait until Black Friday or special offers like this and just buy new licences at 50% off - that way I keep the old licences at V8 and get 4 new licences of V9 for same cost of upgrading V8 to V9.

Even when a new version comes out, they still support the old versions in terms of issues for a long while. I think they are still supporting V6 even.

Best purchase I ever made.

Yes, that was my primary reason for purchasing a v7 licence pack after using Free for a few years.
I then paid for the upgrade to v8 when it came out.

Macrium support policy is to provide extended support for at least a year for the previous version when a new one is released. That's v7 now that v8 it here. That means patches for major issues such as compatibility with changes in Windows, but no new feature development. In practice such support is provided for a lot longer than that. Support for v5 only ended when it became too difficult to patch it keep up with the latest Win10 changes.

You'll see from the above that extended support for v6 ended on 26 Feb 2018. Despite that the most recent patch for v6 was issued on 8th May 2019.

What's New 6.3.1865 - 8th May 2019

Support for Windows 10 1903
This update adds support for Windows 10 1903 and prevents disk images failing with 'Error Code 9'. Please upgrade to this release for support with Windows 10.

Yes, that was my primary reason for purchasing a v7 licence pack after using Free for a few years.

I had a single licence of V7 and a 4 pack licence of V7 and I upgraded the V7 licence at 50% saving, but then waited until Black Friday and bought 4 new V8 licences at 50%.

That way, I still have my 4 V7 licences and 4 V8 licences rather than just 4 V8 licences.

I did this with intent of passing V7 licences to family and friends.

Note: although many buy the 4 pack to share with family and friends, it is strictly against the T&Cs of the licence to distribute to anybody other than licenced person.

I guess the primary reason is to prevent "piracy" i.e. onselling of the legit licences.

I tend to give my family and friends the Free version.

The privacy issue with passing on a licence is that it will always say in 'Help > About...' that it is registered in your name.

    Moderna :)
yes, that is a good deal. I bought the 4 pack recently, not only because a few of the added features were nice, but I had used the free product with such success for so long, I felt like giving the company some money for it.

I'm tempted to buy another 4 pack at this price. $69.95

missed, guess I am late, please post when it goes on sale again, thank you
It probably will not be on sale at 50% off again until Black Friday in November (traditionally they offer a deal on Black Friday but no guarantee they will do it this/every year). Reflect is more often on sale at 20% off.

yup, will use free version till then and see, and if they offer then will buy it, I don't need any paid features (I use just a simple backup and restore), it was to support the developers, thank you :)
