Macrium Reflect X: Fixing taskbar.exe Application Error (0xc0000017)

This worked on my Windows 11 ARM laptop w/ the latest Windows update and Macrium Reflect X (MRX) v10.0.8843 installed.

I tested my MRX image & after choosing the "Macrium Reflect System Recovery" on the boot screen I was booted (after the MRX logo) to the Macrium Reflect Restore Window with a small message error (attached) in front saying:
"taskbar.exe - Application Error
The Application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000017)
Click to close the application”

SOoo I browsed several forums & websites & I tried some of them… none worked for my setup.

So next I filed a Support request for this one.
Macrium was quick to reply & had questions & a RFI so I submitted the testing information.

After that he had me test the "Macrium Reflect System Recovery" with Secure boot on & off, it made no difference.
So next we tested the MRX Rescue Media I use an older created one that failed w/ the same error.
Next, I created a new one following his (Francisco) exact instructions & it worked.
So, I plugged in the 2TB MRX image storage drive & it ran like butter. I didn’t do a restore but got to where the last choice was “Finish”, satisfied it’ll work now.

The most important tip from Francisco was when creating the Rescue Media, which I hadn’t done was: Open Macrium Reflect with administrator privileges.

After exchanging 15 emails w/ the Macrium technician he closed my ticket as resolved.

What was decided or because of special ways to use the MRX application on an ARM laptop is that when running the MRX app to create an image one needs to “Run as admin” for my situation.
He said that by default, Reflect should ask you for administrator permission on launch.
That cleared the way to not receiving the (above) error on booting from the Windows 11 boot menu.

Another option is to create and boot from a USB drive w/ “Rescue Media” to access the image on the other external SSD (in my case).

I like that one can store their ARM MRX images on an external SSD.

For those that didn't know, one can take a screenshot inside the MRX Rescue Media, save it wherever you want.
