Solved Maintenance tests?

Hi,

Am not facing any serious issues on my laptop, W11, MS Off apps all upto date, so are Dell drivers. AV scan is clean. (Some minor like weather widget icon taking a time to load, indexed Word doc, not displaying properly under Recommended).

Since is a few moths old would you recommend some tests to run to check the integrity of software/hardware. Like chdk disk etc.

Haven't run any, since I got it.

You don't need to run any; leave things be and you should have no problems. The command-line tools like chkdsk, sfc etc. are not maintenance tools, they're diagnostics and repair tools which should only be run when you have immediate problems.

Yeah, nothing really necessary. I've had my current Windows 10 box running for almost 2 years and haven't done anything besides run Windows updates, and occasionally run the disk cleanup tool. I do not tend to load a bunch of software or clutter it up with testing, for all of that stuff I use virtual machines.

My windows 11 install on my Beelink minipc will be almost a year old here in about 2 weeks and it's been troublefree. That is really just a testing box for Windows 11 and it gets relatively light use.

Does chkdsk or sfc do harm when they're run unnecessarily?

I'd guess no.

I admit that I run them more often now than in the old days. They are much faster with the OS on a PCI-E SSD than with an old HDD.
