Many things not working properly...

In the photo I see wrong input method configuration. Go to Settings, Languages, click on the dots next to Portuguese and remove the English language, add Portuguese. Of course to let you remove it you must not currently use it, switch to English US.

I guided you step-by-step from my Windows 11 system. In the photo I see you only have English. Just add Portuguese.

I now added Portuguese but I am unsure if this is what it should be.

I want English to ve the main language in the PC, but as I write in English and in Portuguese, I have a problem with accents in Portuguese that represent something else in English

I think that I should be able to change the keyboard to the langage I am about to write in, or is the system smart enough to change automaticaly when it detects the language?

In the photo you have English first and Portuguese second. The default should now be English, unless you override it as I explained in my previous post. I see you have English UK, are you sure? If you have an English US keyboard layout you might want to remove English UK and add English US because all the symbols are in different places. In Greece we use English US because all the symbols are at the same keys when typing either Greek or English, so it easy to remember which key to press.

As my problem with zooming and opening new pages continued i decided to buy a new mouse and keyboard. The mouse appearedn promising at first but after a while the problem returned
So, this morning I tried the keyboard. It's now been over an hour and a half and it looks good. The set-up now is that I have two working keyboards.I understand how to disble the laptop's via the Device Manager/.../ unistall device/ but want to make sure that when I want to return to the original setup, the main keyboard will install itself

When you uninstall a device in Device Manager it is detected again at next restart. That's what we recommended, just uninstall the mouse to get rid of any driver conflicts and it will be detected again and hopefully work.

PS: Just remembered, most laptops have a touchpad software such as Synaptic touchpad driver. Find it in the installed applications list, uninstall it and restart. Chances are the touchpad will work again since installing the Synaptic driver for the wrong model can make it stop working.

Thank you. It's now been nearly 5 hours I have been working with the extra keyboard and the two main problems did not reccur. It looks like the problem is in the keyboard. I am going to continue the test for another two ot three days before starting to look for the fault, whether it is software or hardware

I discovered where the problems come from! It is the keyboard that needs to be sent back to HP to be changed. That means that I am going to lose it for at least 2 weeks and that it will come back with the disk formatted
I had so much trouble installng all my apps on the windows11 and trying to get rid of both Edge and OneDrive that I would like to clone the disk, something I have never done before

Could you help me choose the best/corrcet app, if I need one, and tell me the various steps, pleasea?

Or should nI start a new theread?

I use Acronis Rescue Disk (part of the Acronis suite), but others in this forum use Macrium Reflect. Connect a spare disk to your computer and clone your disk to that. In Acronis there is a clone disk option and then you select source and target. Macrium is a little different. You see both disks, much like in Disk Manager of Windows. You click on the source disk and then you select Clone this disk (or similar) from below. You then drag-n-drop all the partitions of the source disk to the target disk in the same order and begin. If you are cloning to a smaller disk, such as from a mechanical HDD to an SSD, you can resize the current partition (right-click to see the option) so it leaves enough unallocated space for the rest partitions.

I use Macrium Reflect to make images of my system to an external drive. I do Images because I've always had trouble getting the computer to boot when I tried cloning. For others it works but not for me. Here's a link to the free version on Major Geeks. If you want to try it download the 64-bit version.
Edit: What ever program you decide to use make sure you make a rescue disk to boot from. Download Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - MajorGeeks

I have seen occasionally in both Acronis and Macrium that the clone completes "successfully", however for some unknown reason it cannot boot. It usually has some corrupt data, I don't know why, on the target disk and it cannot boot. Repeating the cloning process fixes the issue.

The laptop in question has 361Gb free of 476Gb

I have a Iomega drive that has two cables (see attachment) the shorter one of which is damaged (the second attachment) The size is in the third attachment
Would this drive be ok for the cloning?

I assumw I would have to format it, or does the cloning software do that for me?

Does drive E work without the second USB plug? I'm guessing that one plug is for power and the other for data. If it does and you format it. it will have more than enough free space and should work.

This is how I make a system image.
1. I click on my C drive and make sure all partitions are selected.
2. Then I click on Image this disk and when the next screen comes up I select the destination where I want the Image to go.
3. Click on Finish and deselect Save As Backup Definition. Then click on OK.

I assume you refer to Macrium. So you don't need to select and drag 'n' drop each partition one by one in the target drive. Good to know. Thus however means that all partitions fit on the target. If you need to modify a partition before dragging the next you must do it one by one.

Tell me something which is worrying me. I have been told that the first thing HP does is to format the disk and that the laptop is returned as when it was new, i.e. with Eleven installed.

Now, if I am going to clone the disk, it will clone the OS also. Does that mean that I will end up with an image that is going to be installed on top of waht is there already, or does the disk, when I get the laptop back, be formatted by me prioir to installing the cloned image?

Yes I am referring to Macrium. I didn't specify because I recommended and gave a download link to Macrium. The Only time I used drag and drop was when I needed to modify the partitions. For example; to shrink the size or rearrange the partitions. I edited my post to specify a Macrium image.

I think (not sure) that the two cables are used for tranfer from external disk drive to PC. But I do not remember and am afraid it might not work. I have been looking online but can't find any image of the cables

When the image finishes the laptop will be exactly like it was when you made the image. All of your apps and data will be there.You don't need to format the drive on the laptop when you get it back. Before you send the laptop back I would secure delete any personal data or format the drive. When you're ready let us know and we will help you to either secure delete your data or format the drive.
