My subscription doesn't end until 9/2025. Why am I getting this? I don't see a way to cancel out of this. When I click Extend protection, there is still no way to close out of the following screen.

Why am I getting this?
How can I prevent this from popping up?
How can I close this out?

It's called McAfee marketing. How to get rid of ... uninstall McAfee.

On the other hand, it could quite possibly be 4th party malware that an inefficient McAfee has failed to block.

By the way , out of curiosity ... what's the popup say (that would have been handy info.) and where abouts on the screen does it appear?

You will have to uninstall Mcafee or buy it. Until you do you will continue to get the Mcafee nags to purchase. Mcafee is one of those AV softwares that never cleanly uninstalls. If you want to uninstall it, first uninstall it through settings>apps>installed apps>find Mcafee in the list>click three dots to the right and select uninstall.
Even if it uninstalls a lot of registry entries are left behind.
Then go here. Scroll down to Option 2 and download Mcafee's uninstall tool called MCPR. https://www.mcafee.com/support/?articleId=TS101331&page=shell&shell=article-view
RIGHT click on the downloaded MCPR.exe and select 'run as administrator'.
After it runs, restart.
You will probably get a notification that Windows Defender is turned off. Turn it on (settings>privacy & security>Windows Security>open Windows security>
Toggle on anything that is flagged as being off.

I just saw you were getting Rav Endpoint protection popups as well. That means you are running 2 AV software. It is a 3rd party AV just as Mcafee is.(though not as well known and trusted) That's a no-no as they're butting heads with each other. One definitely needs to be uninstalled.

Old faithful again - see along the bottom "Powered by PC App etc". 4th party malware

I suspect that McAfee came pre-installed, therefore was simply demo/trialware. And you just paid for it when asked (probably in 9/2022).

OP has same problem with MS Office

The dangers of not uninstalling pre-installed commercial software and paying for it on face value.

Just because it comes with the device doesn't mean you have to accept it or use it.
