This morning there were a number of updates to system security. A warning then appeared in system security saying memory integrity is off.

I tied to turn it on but it faled saying there was an incompatible driver

wdcsam64_prewin8.sys
Western Digital Technologies
Device: WD SES Device
Import date: 11/26/2021
Driver date: 11/30/2017
Driver version: 1.2.0.0
Published name: oem25.inf

I checked through all the devices in computer management but could not find any reference to WD SES Device.

I am not sure how to get rid of this incompatible driver, could someone please advise how I can resolve this compatibity so memory integrity can be turned on.

I am running Win 11 Pro Version 21H2 (OS Build 22000.856)

The Western Digital SES driver provides a special communications channel between the PC and the hard drive to enable certain features such as password protection, LED control, and access to the drives label (if applicable).
Think it's related to WD Passport USB drives.

Think it's related to WD Passport USB drives.
It is, and it is only ever needed if you want to use the WD encryption software that WD supply with their external usb drives.

The WD SES Device only shows in Device Manager while a WD usb drive is plugged in. To see (and be able to uninstall it along with its driver) at any other time you need to tell Device Manager to 'View > Show hidden devices'.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

Finally had this solved, for my computer anyway, by chatting with an online Dell tech. It did take nearly an hour but if finally was found the file was related to Windows Essentials, why this file was on my computer I have no idea since Windows Essentials wasn't even available with Windows 10, let alone WIndows 11 and support for it was discontinued in Jan. 2017.
But anyway the Dell tech did find it and was able to delete it. My problem was solved.

I didn't see the issue until this morning where it was turned off, happened after this Definition update earlier today:
Security Intelligence Update for Microsoft Defender Antivirus - KB2267602 (Version 1.373.1686.0)
1662557053476.png

Turned it back on and rebooted, seems okay now.

I have 15 drivers that are identified as incompatible... should I remove them or are some possibly being used? I don't want to pooch my system, lol.

If your Win11 is an Upgrade from Win10 it may be necessary to retain the drivers so as to fall back to Win10. But then if Win10 was an Upgrade from an earlier version who knows? If there are incurable problems it usually becomes time for a clean reinstall which should get rid of old drivers.

I think I did a clean install with Win 7, but upgraded to Win 8, 10, 11. Prob why I have some weird Win 11 issues.

Certainly possible. Does the motherboard fully support the requirements for Win11? If more than about 3 years old it may not. I was given an HP desktop to rehab last week that was from 2019 with Win10 and is okay with Win11, only issue was some drivers were missing and HP didn't have them except specifically for Win10 so I clean installed Win10, did the updates and got the drivers then Upgraded to Win11 and drivers were retained, runs fine..

Good day: I deleted OEM25.inf and it didn't help. I went back and checked and on my computer, it was OEM22.inf I believe and deleted that and it worked. Now I don't have OEM 25 any longer and I wasn't sure what it was and if I need it or not. TY.
