Windows 11
Hi,

I just upgraded my computer to Windows 11.

After upgradation, most of time memory usages is high in idle mode comparatively.

Specification is as below:
  • CPU: i5-8250U @ 1.60 GHz
  • Memory: 12 GB (4GB onboard + 8GB added on another slot)
  • Disk: SSD (250 GB) + 1TB
  • GPU: Dedicated Radeon 540
  • OS: windows 11 21H2
Windows 11 is installed on SSD.

At startup, only Windows Security Notification & Realtek HD Audio are enabled.

Please let me know, what I need to look further.

With Regards
NndnG

With your specs, I would think there would be more of an issue with the cpu usage being high rather than memory. A screenshot of task manager would be helpful for us to give specific recommendations. I agree with @The-Hive. Open task manager and look at what programs start in startup.

I am unable to see your entire task manager. You can click on the column headings of cpu and memory which will put the processes using the most resources at the top. This is of great benefit when troubleshooting to find the biggest resource hogs.
IMO, your memory use does not appear to be abnormally high. I'm sure I have more processes than you do running in the background and mine uses 29% of my installed 32 gb of ram...or 8.1 gb with only Firefox and task manager open.
Windows 11 will use more ram than Windows 10 did as it has more features.
Hopefully, if anyone else sees it differently, they will step in.

The OP's usage does seem a little high, I have 32GB and only have 13% (4.1GB) in use with Edge, MSI Afterburner and Corsair iCUE running. This is the latest Win11 build, no services disabled, no reg 'hacks' etc.
Maybe because there is only 12GB RAM Windows is using more as a cache, or since it is a laptop the iGPU is reserving a chunk?

My setup is the same, 12 GB ram with 2GB reserved for onboard graphics. (Laptop)
