When I enter the Email & Password (Gmail) for the account I use to login to my laptops I get the following.

Do you have an actual outlook account or do you use just gmail for login to MSA?
Some MS services require you to have outlook account, like outlook and onedrive.

I do have two hotmail.com & one outlook.com accounts. My old gmail account I used to sign on to my laptop was getting SPAM by the truck load so I deleted it 4 years ago. My new gmail account to do the same has never been a bother. I use Windows Hello PIN.
I only tried to access it to double check it's security.

When I find it.
I have a very similar problem trying to transfer my email accounts from My Samsung Tablet to My PC
I copied my gmail, and BT account details into Windows mail in MS win11 Pro
the BT account installed perfectly, but my gmail account comes up with the windows mail; message
"We couldn't Access this account.
You might need to update your password, or give the account permission to sync to this device" .
I have tried to give the permission without success, But it I log on line direct to my Google gmail account
using the same password and details, I get access to all my email messages.
Where am I going wrong ?

I notice that My microsoft account is using an old email address that is no longer available.
should I change that ?

Too complicated to explain. If not available you cant alter it and a new one wont work.

I think you would have to reply to an email that MS would send to your registered email before you could do anything.
