There are probably many things that you haven't seen in Windows before, unless you’re RainMan, I’d expect memorising every driver would be impossible.

There are often updates to device-management, input services and audio services so I suspect it’s a part of that.

Possibly related to:
- Beamforming and microphone array tuning
- Noise suppression and echo cancellation
- Voice clarity enhancements for conferencing
- Hotplug detection and wake/sleep audio stability

I have a Sound BlasterX G6 and I do not have any APOs on my system right now. What sound card do you have? My guess is a Realtek?

You do, the APOs are in the Sound Blaster drivers/firmware.

The DLL in the thread subject is a linking library function from the Audio chip APOs and Overlaying App APOs to the Windows system. In my image it is in the 4 places as marked.
