Doesn't look likely - bought mine from Ghacks in February and it was on offer before that. They've had plenty of time to act if they were so inclined.

And can it still get updates? I remember back in the day people used pirate copies but were unable to run updates. I have heard of people recently buying MS products from a 3rd party and having issues - not receiving after paying, product received and doesn't work, product not as advertised, stops working after a short time.

If you buy from Ghacks your Office is registered on your MS account and is fully updating. No issues whatsoever for me. The suspicions are understandable but misplaced.

Does it include OneDrive storage for the 40 bucks or is that an additional cost with Microsoft? I see many ads for 40 bucks/1 year, not unlimited 40 bucks forever. Tempting as I pay yearly for the Family Plan. Or maybe just move over to free Google Docs/Sheets, Gmail and cheaper Drive storage. LOL use MS for Office, OneDrive, Outlook, and Google for Calendar, Photos, apps on phone

Many of these offers have been around for a while -- some work, some "give up the ghost" after a few months. Like all these things "Caveat Emptor" and make sure activation is done by normal Windows activation and not by various dubious "KMS" methods.

If it only lasts 180 days or slightly longer for that price it still could be worth it. Risk to reward ratio for purchasers. Up to you.

I had a bad experience with these cheap MS software keys...both MSO 2016 and other MS programs that I purchased at a site based in HK some years ago. The keys were accepted by my MS account but they were deactivated after about a year or so claiming they were pirated. MS support said these were invalid and could not be used. I asked for a refund but the site only refunded via their 'coins' that I could use to buy more shady software keys.

Yes, caveat emptor is the way to go.

Also consider Google apps or Libreoffice. Not as feature rich as MSO 365/2021 but they get the job done particularly for home users. :) The only negative with Google apps is, well, chances of Google snooping. I hasten to add I'm a MSO 365 Family user.
