I'm on Office 365 user and I think that it is a great value. That value boils down to what you need and how much you need. For me, I have multiple desktops in my house (myself, wife, son and daughter). And I have a few Mac's in the house too (myself and my daughter). Our ability to install Office on any number of devices is advantageous. Since I only need 4 of the 6 accounts, I provide one to my dad, and I still have 1 sitting around that I could give to a friend or family if i wanted to. And I get the Office 365 subscription discount vi my employer, so it's $69.99 for me t get all 6 accounts.

The real benefit for me is OneDrive. Each of those 6 accounts gets 1TB of oneDrive space. While I use my OneDrive space pretty extensively, the rest of my family really just uses it as an automatic backup location for cell phone pictures and videos. All of us have our mobile devices syncing to our 1TB onedrive accounts.

I've found no other better storage/$ cloud option that offers up to 6TB of OneDrive space for the cost of Office 365. For me, I'm willing to pay the cost of Office 365 simply for OneDrive, having Microsoft Office is just an extra bonus.

I heard OneDrive isn't included and I need that, so I opted to subscribe to the Office365 Family Plan through Microsoft and Pay $109.00 each year for 6 users. I prefer MS Office, Outlook and Onedrive over the cheaper Google office products. However, I do also have Google Drive and my photos are on Google Photos, plus I use the Google Calendar.

I've tried Google Calendar. I prefer Outlook's calendar over it. It synchs nicely with the Outlook phone app. I have multiple calendars in Outlook, and they all appear on the Outlook app.

Just downloading mine now. It includes Word, excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, One Note, Access and Publisher. Amazing. I like having publisher. Until now I have just had Word 2013 (standalone) and Libre Office if needing to open excel documents occasionally. Tbh Word is all I need but I like the idea of having publisher.

Well it did install One Drive as well. Which I have uninstalled again. I also signed out of office - as I usually do in Word 2013. And it said if you need to edit anything you need to be signed in again. Hmm. I don't like having to be signed in to save and edit things. Surely they're just saved on computer.

Interesting article here about what "Lifetime" means and how it isn't an official Microsoft term.

"For Office 2021, end of support is 13 October 2026 or about 3 years, 8 months from today"

No idea how bona fide the website is this is from but it kind of makes sense. It's "Lifetime" in the sense it shouldn't expire but is only supported until 2026 apparently

Your guess is as good as mine, but..., I keep reading posts about users still using the likes of Office 2010 without problems!
So..., if that's possible, that's good enough for me!!!

i think they use the term lifetime to only differentiative that you purchase a license and don't have to pay anything else to use this software for as long as it works, unlike Office/Microsoft 365 which has a recurring yearly charge.

Office 2010 works brilliantly -- the only thing that's a possible problem is that some features of EXCEL might not be available e.g latest pivot table features.

However if you are a decent power user there's all sorts of ways you can replicate that too.

And some sort of "Teams" integration might be lacking but who really cares. Office 2020 and XP / W2003 server were the pinnacle of Ms's basic software success.

Now Ms has excellent servers, cloud servers (Azure), robotics, A.I etc so Windows or even office isn't its priority going forward.

I can still make queries from 2010 EXCEL into modern SQL databases such as MariaDB and Ms SQL.

Just so happened that a friend of a friend had a major computer crash and just this evening we helped him get everything set back up after reinstalling windows from scratch. He needed to find an inexpensive Office license to replace the copy he lost. We told him we would look into this.

Ten minutes after we ended our Quick Assist session with him, I came to the forum here and literally the first post I saw was yours.

We sent that info to him, and he is now very happy to have office back and running.
