Microsoft Office 2024 or Microsoft 365

And then there's the MULTIPLE VERSIONS OF OUTLOOK that confuses some people. On one of the past versions of Windows 11, I remember seeing THREE! There were TWO built-in Outlook apps: Outlook and Outlook (new). Then if you had MS Office installed, you had yet ANOTHER THIRD Outlook. And I am not even counting Outlook.com which MS email users often don't know the difference between that and the Outlook email app that came already pinned to their Taskbar.

Now Windows 22H2 is back down to ONE Outlook app. I do not mess with the Outlook app that comes with Windows. If a customer is using it and is comfortable with it, I don't move their cheese. And I do not recommend that non-techy people use Office Outlook that comes with office - there are too many settings and people like to monkey around and then come to me as to why they "lost their folders" or something like that. IMAP has rules you must follow when creating folders and many of my customers have not been able to wrap their heads around "copy and paste". I try to steer them to the webmail version of their own email and give them a button on their Favorites bar.

I've not had any major issues configuring emails on a modern Outlook program that comes with Office. I do remember one incident last week trying to get Microsoft and Gmail to play ball but I finally figured it out.

I would like to use Office Outlook for myself and would probably use it over Thunderbird except for reasons only MD developers know, Office Outlook does not have a unified inbox. IF ONLY! I have four email addresses that I have to monitor and the unified inbox make it convenient.

I use this laptop mainly from my recliner. It's purpose is scheduling computer and TV services, closing TV work orders, remote customer support, research and recreation.

Printers in the office room on my main floor were both acquired from business customers who upgraded equipment, had me handle the upgrade and then haul away the replaced hardware. I have not purchased a printer for myself in 15 years.

Main: HP LaserJet P3010 (black & white, hardwired, networked)
Aux: HP Color LaserJet MFP M281fdw (color laser, fax, hardwired, networked)

Internet in my house is routed through a TP-Link AC3200 with radios disabled. Wireless access points are two (2) strategically-located UniFi UAP-AC-PRO ceiling units which cover my whole house including basement and front/back yards. Netgear gigabit switches and CAT6 cabling are used for wired purposes.

This computer was acquired from a customer who cleaned out her office. I upgraded it and now use it in my downstairs computer-repair office.

My home office printer is an old HP LaserJet 3015. I acquired this after a customer passed away and his wife sold their house and downsized. She gave me all his equipment. I still help her with her tech issues.
I've used Outlook for decades. The newest Microsoft 365 Office does not include Outlook Classic and now I have to install Outlook Classic separately.
If you are talking about a MS 365 Subscription - Depends on the plan.

As of May 2025 Classic Outlook is available for all plans except "Microsoft 365 Basic" and "Microsoft 365 Business Basic". But check this FAQ to be sure Microsoft hasn't moved the goal post.
Licensing in new Outlook for Windows

For some subscriptions (e.g. MS 365 Family), the default installer does not include Classic Outlook. You have to download and install it separately.

Then configure it to always use Classic Outlook

If you are talking about stand alone Office 2024 - There are two versions

Office Home 2024 does NOT include Classic Outlook

Office Home & Business 2024 does

And then there is

Classic Outlook for Windows seperate (not Office, not MS 365)
