Me and you both. In a perfect world where one's internet connect is a gazillion MB per second fast and 100% stable, I guess I MIGHT could understand all the hype about cloud storage and 365, but that will never be the case for me. Also, using an app that one does not own, leaves the user at the mercy of changes down the road that a person doesn't like or in most cases, even need.

Well see, I never has H&S. I had Office 2007, which was a different interface altogether. I uninstalled it with Revo Pro before I installed 2021 Pro Plus, and mine doe NOT look like your 2021. It's p*ssin me off that I can't figure out why. Look at these weird a$$ styles (the scenebreak is a new one I created and Prowriting aid is an addon I installed) But styles looked the same before.

Office 365 is great - multiple devices, no hassle. Onedrive is very reliable.

I'm glad it is for you. Onedrive syncing has always been really sketchy for me whereas Google Drive has never missed a beat. As far as backing up my system to the cloud, it would be almost impossible feat on a connection as slow as mine. So like @Edwin, I rely on my own storage. As far as all the versions of Office, I jumped on the 2021 $50 bargain, but I can see that even after the learning curve, I will not be as productive using all the bells and whistles of 2021 (which looks like 365) as I was using my old 2007.

One drive I have to agree seems 100% reliable -- at least I haven't had any issues with it -- and if you've got decent Internet (both INBOUND and OUTBOUND) then restoring a 20 GB Windows image file from the cloud is fine -- however this isn't suitable for a lot given the fact a lot of ISP's have far slower UPLOAD speeds than DOWNLOAD and often have tiny data limits.

You also still need to have a bootable device that can connect to the internet if you need to do a "Bare Metal" recovery. An official WINPE system with network drivers or even a Linux Live distro are 2 tools that can make this work.

The only reason I have a 365 subscription is for the one drive space for the family, I use next to nothing, but the girls have hundreds of GB of photos :zip:

I envy all you folks with good internet. My Macrium system image is 45 gb and that doesn't include any of my personal files which are on my secondary drive. Try backing that up to the cloud on a 5Mbps down/1 Mbps up connection.

Might be cheaper to take out a separate One Drive subscription without Office 365 -- you probably have done the maths but 1TB per user @ approx GBP 3.80 per month (business so probably tax deductable) and VAT refundable too.

@Edwin You can try downloading the tool from near the bottom of this page: Repair an Office application and after you run that, reinstall 2021 from scratch, hopefully, it will detect it's the same version and install all the 2021's instead of mixing the others in. Not sure it'd work, but worth a try?

For me, personally. I use My One Drive space as a sort of file server for things which are not sensitive

I build labs and take notes on how I built them
I keep drivers for my computer on one drive
I keep any commercial software that i have purchased along with my keys in OneDrive.
I keep things that I share with other people here

For the rest of my family (myself included)

Our cells phones all backup their pictures and videos to our OneDrive account. For me, I have 55GB of photos from my phone in Onedrive, and I am using a total of 100GB at present. So, my phone is more than 1/2 of my total usage.

Yeah, I don't put things like macium backups in the cloud. No really big huge files. I've got 500/50 internet. My biggest things that go up are videos from my phone.

Been there, done that!

This is what I've done:
• Uninstalled Office from all machines using the 'Removal Tool'
• Uninstalled all Office Product Keys from all machines through Command Prompt
• Removed all Devices and linked ID's at MS Account online
• Removed all Office ID's and Live ID's in Credential Manager on all machines
• checked and re-checked a whole bunch of miscellaneous settings on all machines

Fresh install brought no joy!

Spent about 2½ hours on the phone with support..., they were stumped!

Near as I can figure it..., when I bought the Laptop, there was a Grace version of Office somewhere in the woodwork, Home & Student must have latched onto it, now it won't go away!

Installing it on my Desktop, it's fine!

Inexplicably strange!

I'm still a Microsoft Certified Partner, so I don't know if I get some kind of priority, but I just call them and usually get someone on the phone quickly whenever I need something.
